Todays ride and why I hate myself

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Todays ride and why I hate myself

There is good and bad news.
The good news first. I rode 40 miles like I said.

The bad news is I was circling around by my house to get the last little bit so I would have 40 miles. I slowed down to 4-5 mph I would guess to turn. Then it happen I turned to sharp and went down.
And here is a good reason to wear gloves haha.

And here is a photo of my hood.

My bike sould be fine. It has a marks on the hood and they are turned. No marks on the carbon fiber.
Handle bars are a little mested up.

Chics dig scars.
Victory is forever.

Nice job on the 40 miles.

Now straighten/ fix your handlebars and fight again tomorrow.

Just get a new cover for your brifter, and you'll be good to go.

Btw, where are the shots of the average speed? Proof is in the pudding (or pie...)

Good job Ryan!! Battle scars indeed! That average isn't bad at all for hill repeats. You're a climber, and a good descender. How's your calf muscle that cramped the other day?

My calf is good. Thanks. How do you know I'm a good descender and climber? I like to think so.

Damn dude - if you were "circling" 4-5 mph on the block to get to 40 and still maintained an average for 18.3mph - you must've been ROLLING up those hills..

I was turning around at 4 mph or so. Thanks though. It was not all up hill. There was flat.

Damn! How does everyone smack their brifters head onto soemthing and just ride again, while I set mine on the black plastic part in front of the rubber and I can't shift!?
I seriously have the worst luck ever. I get new wheels and I can't even ride.

Well done Ryan. Keep working at it, and don't worry about the crash. We all crash, it's the getting back up and going after it again that counts.

Well, an 18 mph average is good for hill repeats, so you've got some climbing ability--and you're built like a climber. And, your max speed was nearly 40mph, on a descent. Unless that was a total straight shot with no curves, that's pretty fast for a young rider like yourself to be descending. Nice job.

That is not bad my elbow is worse. My elbow is sore and has a scape. I already got cycling scars which I'm proud of. There a badge of honor and I keep my wrist bands I get at the hospital.

It's crashes like that that remind me to keep my Advanced Trauma Life Support certification current.

Doesn't 40 miles averaging 18.3mph and a max speed of 39.9mph sound a little high to anyone else but me? Especially for hill repeats.

Yup, that's a pretty damn fast pace for hills. Then again, coastal Michigan ain't exactly the Rockies (or even Maryland), so "hill" is open to interpretation.
