Poolesville, MD 50 Sunday AM?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Poolesville, MD 50 Sunday AM?

Any DC folks up for a ~50 mile ride in the Poolesville vicinity relatively Sunday morning? I'm going to be out there anyway, and would love to have company if folks are interested. My pace is not exactly leisurely, but not blazing fast, either -- I usually ride BB or B on the Potomac Pedalers rides. If people are interested, please post and we can work out the details.

I just responded to your PM. I was riding B/BB last year around Poolesville, but I'm definitely not quite there this early in the year.

D'OH! I wish I could, but Sunday is race day... I need to get out to P-ville to pre-ride the RR course out there one of these days...

lebowitz: I'm in the same boat. I know how to get to Poolesville, but it's about 60 miles round trip from DC and when you tack on another 50, that's a very hilly 110+ miles.

Hmm. I've got a rack on my car that'll carry three bikes, so I can accommodate two additional people. If y'all want to meet at a Metro Station somewhere, I can drive from there to P'sville and back. Would that work? I live at Medical Center Metro Station, but could meet you at some other Red Line Metro if that works...

Ok, let's do this. I'll meet you at the north exit to the Dupont Circle Metro at 8:00 AM sharp. I'll wait on the 20th Street side. I'll be the sorta dumpy-looking guy driving a blue Taurus with my red bike on the top, geekily sporting my BF kit (if I can get it washed and dried in time). Then we'll head out to Poolesville for a long-overdue spin.

Please let me know if you think you can make it, so we'll know how many we need to wait for.

I would but, alas, exams. I managed to squeeze in 30 this morning. That's it for me for a while.

Bdcheung, where were you this morning? Give up hope on any teammates coming out to ride?

That all depends on how you look at it. I was definitely feeling some pain the last 5 miles.

edit -hope the frame and your buddy are alright

I was in full GW kit (blue/gold), hammering pretty hard since I missed the poolesville ride. I was Westbound from 9:45-10:50 and eastbound around like 2pm

We probably did pass. I was westbound from Trailside at 12:30, turning off to ride Woodburn around 1:30.

Frame/fork look OK, but the wheels need a bit of truing and I might need a new handlebar... Haven't heard the update on Joel. Apparently he started feeling dizzy/not knowing where he was/etc. in the ambulance, so I think his stay in the ER has gone beyond a couple stitches.

The ride made clear to SpongeDad and me that we've got some work to do to get in shape this year, but it was still glorious to be outside finally. Lots of cyclists around Poolesville yesterday, but nobody commented on our uber-cool BF kit. Maybe they were too intimidated...?

At any rate, we're hoping to do this again sometime, and would love to have people join us, provided they promise not to put us to shame.

Sorry to hear about your crash. Mend soon...

Kuma - sorry I missed this - wasn't checking BF so much last week. I was out there on Sunday with my wife - we did 47 miles. Would love to hook up sometime, I try to ride out there at least 1 x week.

Sounds like I missed a good time. Training has been very sporadic for me this year with a new kid and work/school (just got back from a business trip so I haven't even seen my bike for a week and a half). Regardless I'd love to to hook up with you guys next time.
