Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Guess I missed out on the fun.

I kind of knew before i reached Woodland that the return trip wouldnt be as fast or easy. Still, I hate having to quit rides.

I think my next century will be the exact opposite of BtoB. The Blue Ridge Extreme.

The flatest century in the Heartland is the The Tour De Corn. It is going on this weekend and a few of us from southern Il.are plan on giving it a try. We did the Superman ride two weeks ago and it had some hills to it . THE CORN RIDE HAS ONE HILL OVER A INTERSTATE IT CROSSES and they usually have 600 riders or more doing it. The heat is going to be turned to the mid 90's this will make it interesting anyway. The only sad thing is my youngest son wo'nt be able to make the trip to this one after are light 40 mile Saturday mourning ride he broke his arm at home above the elbow. We will sure miss him on this one being that he is our pace setter pushing us to our limit if we can keep his pace or slow him down plus he lives to ride his bike and will be out for the summer. We all know that hurts staying out of the saddle that long SO GET BETTER MIKE WE MISS YOUR RIDING SKILLS . Here is there web sight

TFCE predates the Tri-State Seacoast Century. i.e., TFCE was the flattest in the East when it was started. They aren't about to change the name now. I think the Seacoast and TFCE are about on the same level of "flatness". Both are mountainous in nature when compared to some of the other epically flat rides mentioned in this thread (i.e., Eastern Maryland's Seagull century).

It is flatter.

As everyone mentioned, TFCE is an old name, no reason to change it now. It's just a ride name.

Registration for the TFCE closed within 2 weeks. They have a 1800 rider limit. Hoping for good weather.

thank you for clearing that up... I should've been more clear by saying I thought the Tri-State Seacoast Century was the flatest in New England.

good stuff to know, thanks again
