FSA K-Wing bar issues
A couple days ago, while out on a ride, I notice a bit of a raddle coming from my bars. Once coming home, I took the bars off and as I tilted them side to side, something rolled back and forth inside them, but only within the top area. After removing the bar plugs, I saw that there was some sort of plastic stuff bunched up about 3 inches inside the bars on both sides, and it seemed to be in there pretty tight. Just wondering if any other K-Wing owners see the same thing inside their bars. I'm hoping that whatever is caught inside can come out through one of the internal cable routing holes in the bar since it won't drop down into the drops.
Any tips would be appreciated. |
I bought my k-wings used but I also had this plastic stuff inside. I used a thin plier to pull as much as I could from it. Routing cables is not the easier thing to do on these bars baut I don't think the plastic sheating is the cause. I suspect this plastic film is used during construction to either provide a starup shape for the bars or to prevent the carbon to stick to some kind of holding stuff used for the same purpose. Unless it is used to dampen vibration noise. I would not worry about it

mine had plastic bag material inside as well and I too used thin pliers to get as much out to route the cable.

Don't they create carbon tubes by inflating balloons inside? Could the plastic be part of this?

All very interesting replies, thanks everyone. I pulled some of the plastic out of the bars, but there still seems to be a fair bit in there. I'll keep pok'n away at it though.

Take it out and the bars should weigh what FSA advertises.
