Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My build plan

Here is the frame I chose for my build plan as I am on a bit of a tight budget:

I will be building it up with my Ultegra/Duraace components from my 99 Schwinn Peleton and Mavic Open Pro wheels:

Let me know what you think, and I will post pics when build is complete

There is nothing wrong with the Schwinn, but I just want a more modern, stiffer frame. The Schwinn will eventually become an SS. I payed $199 for the frame, so I think it will be a great build for the price....thanks all!!

can't go wrong with that. in reality you're probably getting 98% of the performance (if not more) of much more expensive alu frames (and carbon ones too for that matter)

I think thats the frame the Bicycling Magazine said was pretty good, really good if you consider the price.

No, the frame they reviewed in Bicycling is the R-660, it has carbon stays and is more expensive. I chose the frame without carbon stays.
