Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colnago "extreme power" - dumb name, great bike

I haven't had a chance to get a photo shoot with my new bike yet, but holy cow!

As I've seen it posted in other places, "this bike is all wrong for me - it's far too good!"

I've had the bike for about a week now, and it's unbelievably great (of course at Colnago prices it darn well ought to be).

Here's a rundown of the build sheet:

Frame Colnago Extreme Power ST09
Fork Colnago Star OEM Spec'd Carbon
Brake Campagnolo Centaur-D Skeleton
BrakeShift Campagnolo Centaur QS Ergopower
Crank Campagnolo Record Ultra-Torque Compact Carbon
BottomBracket Campagnolo Ultra-Torque
FrontDerailleur Campagnolo Centaur QS
Cassette Campagnolo Centaur 12-25
RearDerailleur Campagnolo Centaur
Chain Campagnolo Chorus Ultra
Pedal SpeedPlay Zero SS
Headset Chris King NoThread Set Green
Stem Easton EA50
Handlebar FSA Energy Alloy
Seatpost Easton EA70 Black
Saddle Fizik Pave Hp Ti
Tire Continental Grand Prix 4000
Wheelset Campagnolo Vento

I'm off for another ride now.

*edit* I'm a moron, and I can't spell Colnago apparently. Could some mod please fix the thread title?
*edit edit* thanks mods!

Isn't Calnago a new BikesDirect brand?

the only reason to go Record is bling and weight savings. I'm not exactly worried about the bling factor, and building a weenie bike around this frameset is silly to begin with. Centaur's fine. The vento's are good wheels for my weight (240lbs).

This is the same Extreme Power frameset that retails for $4300, correct?

If so, I have to agree. Kinda like buying a Porsche 911 and putting some 14" steel wheels with hubcaps on there. But whatever, it's your bike, and Centaur is still a very capable group.

What do ya mean no record? It's got Record cranks. I do have to say though, I prefer the shifting of the Record shifters to the Centaur. At some point I'll have to swap my Record levers onto this bike.

Yeah, nobody ever accused me of having style.

It could be worse, it could be Dura-Ace.

Hey, the F4:13 is the 3rd model from the top of the line, and I went with Fulcrum 1's. My total build cost was less than an Extreme Power frameset.

Believe it or not, the only reason I haven't shot some photos is I can't find a backdrop that's OCP enough. Maybe this weekend...

Mountain View, CA, April 25th, 2007: A local man was arrested for trespassing when he was found outside a local home taking pictures of his bicycle against the white garage door. The family was awakened by the perpetrator shouting "Bella! Bella!"

I went with the green stripes (ST09). It's the same scheme as bbp's, but in green. Let me see if I can get some shots from my camera phone...

Dude. I'm not trying to bust your b***s, but come on. That bike is ultimate bling.

well, you're free to your interpretation. I'll have fun riding my bike in the meantime.

To my mind, "bling" is stuff that you get/do to impress other people. That's certainly not why I got this bike.

No pix from the phone, they suck too much.

Can anyone divulge the actual weight of an Extreme Power frame? It has to be heavier than a C50 (already a porker) since it is a beefed up version of the C50. Yet some web vendors claim it weighs less than a C50. C'mon, there is no free lunch . . .

I didn't weigh mine so I can't tell ya. I can't imagine it's lighter than a c-50 though since it's got more material in the lugs and the tubes have the internal ribbing.

Competitive Cyclist lists 1585g for frame, fork, and a Campy Record headset. 1100g for just the frame.
