Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

and still from this year:

Carbon bike now has PowerTap and Looks. Silver/AL bike will have Looks (sitting on the floor), otherwise will stay the same.

I don't have a "nice" picture although I'll be taking a few soon.

Yep, the '05 Limited is the same frame as the OCR - yellow striping instead of blue. I think you've also got a different wheelset - mine came with Shimano WH-550R's, which has gotten some flak here on the forum, but they've worked great for me. I've only had a problem throwing my chain, which was traced down to a twisted link. Swapped in a Dura-Ace chain, and now it shifts like butter.

I may be getting a 12X27 cassette for an upcoming century ride (with a LOT) of climbing, but don't know if I'll get an Ultegra or 105. Depends on what price I can find....

How do you guys like the C2's? I'm going to look at a used '05 C2 tomorrow night as my first road bike. Hopefully I'll have pictures of it if I can come together on price with him.

Wow, that's the nicest looking Giant I have ever seen. Are Giants (and all the other Tiawanese bikes) a lot cheaper over there?
Can you just walk into the factory and pick one up?
There are a couple of bike-builders here in Canada that let you do that, see the bikes being built, etc. Marinoni is one that comes to mind.

Mine is great. Light, tight, and easy to ride. With the new chain, it's even better. Since it's a used CF bike, check it over very carefully for any crash signs.....but if it's in good shape, it's a great bike.

I ride an '05 C2 and absolutely love it. I will be sad if I ever have to part with it. As kokomo61 mentioned you need to do a really good check. Look for cracks at joint, bb, chainstays, headtube, etc. Take you time and be thorough (can't spell this morning and I'm not even going to try).

Actually I mispoke, it's a C3 which is just different in a few of the components. In any case, I'll be bringing along a friend who knows bikes to help me inspect it. With only 400 miles on it, I'm not too worried though.

Thanks,
Rick

Same frame, just a different paint job, and 105 9-sp (I think) vs. Ultegra 10 sp. Still, it's a nice ride, and if it's in good shape and priced right, Check eBay and CL for recent selling prices. Also, make sure it fits you before you buy....

400 miles and it's an '05...hmm....did someone buy a bike thinking they were going to ride a lot and just never caught on? If so, you have just found a steal. Make sure the seller understands that bikes don't hold their resale value....

It was a leftover he bought late last summer and I think he got too busy with law school to ever ride it. Trust me, I plan to only give what I have to for it Hopefully I'll be posting here this weekend with pics of my new ride.

I have the 05 TCR C3.. (see page 1 of this thread) absolutely an awesome bike. You will not regret it at all. I upgraded a few things since I bought it but it's fine just the way it is stock. Have fun!

This is my new 2007 OCR A1. It has the new Alliance frame with half Carbon, half Aluminum. Mine is pretty much stock except for a new stem and Mavic Equipe wheels.

I couldn't afford it. I was looking at a an OCR1 because I had ridden my brothers OCR3 and liked the geometry. This year giant came out with the OCR A1 and it was only $300 more for the better frame so I didn't eat for a couple of weeks and saved up the extra money and ordered the OCR A1. My brother bought a Scott at the same time and upgraded his wheels to the Mavic SL's so I got his hand-me-down Equipes. This is my first road bike and it rides great, I already have a 160 miles on it in a couple of weeks.

As promised, pics of my new to me and first ever road bike:
2005 Giant OCR C3

Mmm, carbon fiber goodness

I bought it with around 400 miles on it, the bike just came back from a tune up at the LBS (still had the tag on it) and paid $900 for it as it sits plus he threw in a cateye headlight and some new bar tape. Is that a pretty good deal?

I can't beleive how smooth the bike is. I took it for a very short test ride and it was amazing. I also like that the component group is all 105's as I had been test riding new bikes that were a mix of 105 and Tiagra components and these definitely felt much better.

Enjoy,
Rick
