Down with shorts....literally and figuratively

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Down with shorts....literally and figuratively

Is anyone else noticing a proliferation of "low-rider" shorts....much like the "low-rider" jeans of yesteryear? Several times in the past two days, I've seen some not so svelte guys wearing hip-hugging shorts, either with their hairy butt cracks or underwear hanging out....biking gear is already revealing enough that I don't want more details (unless it's a really attractive woman, that is). This is one of the reasons that bibs exist!!

You should ride faster, then others will have to stare at your bib covered @$$ instead of the other way around.

Consider yourself lucky...

We have a tri guy on our weekly rides that wears *I swear* a girls mid drift top along with those hip hugger shorts. Good thing he gets dropped in the first few miles.

The worst thing I ever saw on a group ride was a guy that had a see-through mesh panel on the back of his shorts close to the top. I am not kidding. It was probably for ventilation and designed to be covered by a jersey except his kept riding up. This showed his @$$ absolutely unmistakably. At least he wasn't some huge fat guy, but still...

The second worse thing I saw was a tri guy in my nieghborhood who I think is at least 65 and possibly older. He has rasmussen's physique and rides in a extremely thin pair of running shorts, you know, the kind with the flappy fabric. gross, gross, gross. Although I am thankful it was at least that and not a speedo.
