first metric of the year, and I'm SPENT
Today's ride was not only my first 100K of the year, it included a climb Ryanf would be proud of, almost getting hit, rain, wind, and HAIL. Sixty-five miles, first real climbing of the year.

(thanks to Toporoute following the road for no reason, that leg down 6th in Golden I didn't do)
My house to Lookout Mtn and back, including a lap around Washington Park for scenery. Thankfully, the skies didn't open up until I was on my way home, but it was freaking HAILING. I hid out in a DIY car wash, and again at REI downtown.
Oh, it's MAY -- why aren't the water fountains turned on yet?? Ugh. I refilled at the top of Lookout, and wanted to get some at Four Mile Park on the way home, but thankfully I was close enough to get away without it.
For the locals, first Ascent of Lookout this year, 48min, and I stopped at Windy Saddle Park and one other time. Happy to just get up it.

Nice ride Dex! More than I'd want to tackle at the moment. At the rate I'm riding so far this year, I'll be lucky if I'm ready for Lancaster's CBR 2% average grades.
You may have ridden past my niece's house on your climb, and descent. I'm pretty sure she lives on that mountain road going out of Golden.
I'm going on my first organized ride of this season tomorrow in WV. Promises to have some hills, but no mountains like the one you were on.

Good job!
Hail's a p in the a though, isn't it? I was descending Neel's Gap in Ga. a couple of years ago when the skies opened up and covered the road with hailstones. It made for an interesting descent. Hope you weren't having to deal with it on the serious downhill parts....
