Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Non Lycra Road bike shorts?

Ill admit it, I am not a fan of lycra shorts. I wear them on occasion, and probably dont look that bad, but some days Id prefer a pair of looser shorts. Anyone ride the road in a slightly looser short? I dont want baggy MTB shorts, just something looser than lycra but something that doesnt look out of place on the Road.....suggestions?

I'm confused. You don't want lycra or you don't want tight shorts? I have a pair of cotton shorts made by Bellweather that I use when I run out of lycra shorts and forget to do my laundry. They're not lycra but they still fit tight. Maybe you're looking for something akin to running shorts? IMHO, the goofiness factour between lycra riding shorts and running shorts is pretty much negligable. I do have an old pair of running-like shorts made by Nike that had some padding on them. They fit sort of like swimming trunks. Look for shorts branded as "touring shorts".

It's the shinyness! Anything that I can't see my relection in, is something I would consider. I know what you are talking about.

I like those. I have a couple pair of "regular looking" shorts that I use on the days I want to look more "regular looking".
