I should have listened to you guys long ago...
I got my first set of bibs yesterday...couldn't wait to get home from shopping and get out on the bike. I am NEVER going back to regular shorts. These things are terrific!!
Cheers, Brian |
Bibs are the best thing to happen to cycling since the wheel.
Fact. |

Am I the only one out there that can't tell the difference, except when I need to take a leak?

Then get back to us and tell me if you'll ever wear your shorts again. Once you go bib, you never go back. Trust the collective BF wisdom grasshopper. |

'nipple chafing'? If some biker babe starting talking to me about the bib nipple chafing issues she was experiencing that would be totally hot. |

I currently don't have any ass hanging issues. That would spoil the wonderment of your Bib Enlightment Experience. |

Bibs are glorious. Not having a pressure band around the waist is priceless. If they're good bib shorts then you basically feel naked. That's a good thing.
Low cut bibs can be easily wizzed over top. Tall cut bibs can be wizzed through hiked up leg opening. |
well, it's nice for the guy riding behind you too. we don't like looking at crack.
|
Plus bibs have a slimming effect for us older, slightly paunching guys who still want to look flashy at the Starbucks.
|
..and us younger guys with a persistent gut that will not flatten out.
I can not stand the elastic around the waist of regular shorts. Freaking thing always digs into my side. That and I spend an inordinate amount of time worrying that my butt crack is showing, especially with form fitted jerseys. |
Seriously, it seems like 9 out of 10 people who try bibs never buy shorts again. I should start a poll...
Anyway, the advantages are: 1. Never having that cold wind (when it's cold out) between your shirt and your shorts. 2. Not having an elastic pressure on your waist when you're riding. 3. Not having to worry about certain anatomical parts showing. If these don't apply to you, then perhaps you shouldn't buy bibs. All three applied to me. |

I usually have some kind of under armour shirt type clothing tuck into the shorts. If I'm not wearing under armour, I'm usually wearing a TIGHT FITTING jersey that hugs to my body well and wouldn't allow the wind to blow up my shirt easily. I have never felt such a draft before nor worry about my back/butt crack showing. 2. The elastic pressure has yet to bother me and i've ridden centuries before 3. Wear black shorts and its no big deal. I am planning to get a bib to see if it is a big change like everyone on BF says it is. Not everything on the BF is correct. I see tons of ppl vouching for the Brooks B17 saddle and to me that's a waste of money and an ugly saddle to go on your fancy road bike. |
