initial rides for new riders

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

initial rides for new riders

I have just started to road bike during the last 2 weeks, what is the recommend milage to start with. I don't have time during the weekdays, so I am currently doing 30 miles, avg 15 mile/hour (1000 ft. elevation) on saturday and 20 miles on sunday. any tip on how to improve my riding ?

You're doing great. Keep doing those 30 mile rides and add more distance to them every once in a while. It would be best if you can do something during the week. Perhaps you can make some time.

20-30 milers are definitely a sweet spot for me. Not much thought ahead of time required, no clearing of the schedule required. Just jump on and go. Think about throwing in a quick 15miler during a weeknight. Its just an hour's commitment, and with the weather warming up, shouldn't be uncomfortable.

Keep it up!

-Steve

(BTW, I think you mean 2007 Cannondale CAAD9 Optimo 3 in your sig)
