Best Cycling in Oregon
What are the 3 best century rides (or other 1-3 day long cycling events) held in Oregon? This east coast boy is interested in traveling to a place I've never been to do some cycling, and Oregon is high on my list. "Best" means most picturesque, least auto traffic and best supported, in that order of importance. Hills are fine, but only if they fit the other three criteria. Oregonians, time to show off your state!

I live in West Portland. There are some great hills here for you to climb. In June there is the Barlow Trail Century with 7000ft of climbing. In addition, you should sign up for the Seattle to Portland in July. That's an annual double century that I'm doing in one day.
I train in the rural parts, way west of Portland. Minimal cars, nicely paved roads. Easy to create your own century out here.

Keep on climbing
Why not look into Cycle Oregon? They have a weekend version. Traffic in Oregon has to be some of the most courteous around, and if you're on the eastern side of the Cascades, there isn't any traffic anyway (or much of anything else for that matter). A gorgeous, gorgeous state.

Just did one of my favorite rides over the weekend. Circumnavigation of Mt. Hood.
~ 80miles of drop-dead scenery, fast descents, and crushing climbs (w/ a 200 yard portage over snow after Lolo Pass + a road washout on Rd 18 to negotiate)
Cheers

The Blackberry Bramble Century in Eugene is really nice. None of the traffic hassles of Portland area, beautiful route in the Coast Range, wine country and ranch lands west of Eugene.

I also enjoy the Covered Bridge Century starting in Albany, OR https://www.coveredbridgetour.org/
Here is a pretty good list of summer events, there are a couple rides on the Oregon Coast, always nice riding there in summer. https://eugenegears.org/events.htm

Here's some more out of Salem, OR:

Blackberry Bramble is pretty good. The Torture 10,000, well that's torture. I helped at the finish line for STP (Seattle to PDX)- and that's a great one.
Another great resource:

(right now it's having issues but Jonathan should have that fixed in a jiffy)

Cycle the Oregon Coast
If you want to see the coast, visit Newport, Oregon.
Our club sponsers a 25/62/100 mile ride in August, the 19th this year.
See the info page at:
https://www.yaquinawheels.org/Century.html
Lots of other nice places north and south on Hwy 101, best traveled from north to south due to the prevailing wind during the summer.

Summit to Surf is a good organized ride that goes over Mt. Hood to Hood River.

This is a great ride, spectacular scenery, little traffic, and good support during the ride. We have about 200 people ride every year. There are maps of the different ride.

Blackberry bramble and summit to surf are my personal favorites. STP is fun, if you like riding with 10,000 other people and eating really dry pb&j sandwiches.
One I plan to do this year that I have been told is great is the yaquina lighthouse century.

Though not an organized ride, one of my favorite routes is to start in Sisters, ride up over Santiam pass, then come back over the Mckenzie pass. You can start in Bend if you want more miles, but the loop from sisters is about 85 miles with roughly 7,000ft of elevation gain, and some of the finest scenery the state has to offer.
