Ewwww! What's with people trying to sell their used biking shorts?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't these people know it's like selling used underwear?

The only garment I would consider buying used is a vintage 1940's overcoat or something similar. Underwear, athletic wear, jerseys, skinsuits, bibs, shorts, socks, shoes...no way. Given the right price, I might consider a winter cycling jacket. It would have to be something that didn't have direct contact with skin.

http://www.google.com/search?q=used+jock+strap

Looks like a lot of stores will help you find a used jock strap, if the used bibs don't gross you out enough.

Used shoes if not worn over many miles would be okay. But jesus - you really need to be a miser in order to convince yourself to buy someone else's bib.

Worst bib to buy now: Tom Boonen's

Just wash them suckers and you'll be good. All the germs and crap you worry about will be dead and gone. It's really just more the thought of it that gets you.

You'd be surprised at the % of roadies that hang up their shorts to dry from sweat and where the same ones the next day without washing them. As long as they don't stink and never have any effects from it, who cares, right?

Sunlight is your friend. Wash them again (I'm sure the seller washes them before sending) and hang them up in the Sun with the pad exposed and any harmful bacteria will be dead. Personaly I'm not a fan of bleach.

I know that it seems odd but I bought a used team kit that included bibs so I just followed my own advice and washed them and hung them in the sun and they are as good a new. I've had a few saddle sores in my time but I haven't got any from these bibs.

Regards, Anthony
