Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You're thoughts on SPITTERS

Hi,
I normally train alone but awhile ago I started to go out with an early morning bunch maybe 1 or 2 times a week, but there's this MORON in it that has been a world class rider, drug addict, drunk, violent thug and absolute animal who sits in the bunch and just clears his nose no matter who is behind him...even girls. His filthy D.N.A. washes all over them, he knows what he's doing and has been told to stop it, but everyone is too scared of him to thump his head in....he is a very dangerous man. I now ride alone again. Does anyone else experience this behaviour?
And before you reply with "Stop being precious" or "Gutless wonder", this guy has been banned for life more than once for things like deliberately pushing another rider over the rails on the track etc, but the weak officials give in and let him back, he's had charges for beating up someone who annoyed him etc etc.

Too bad, sounds like I ought to be there. I've rendered my services at more than one "friendly" soft ball game. I suppose you could find his match,if not in riding skill, one to address the problem early on in the ride. You've no choice but to avoid the rides, realistically, hopefully someone or something will take him-out I would but again that's fancifull to focus on. As far as the officials, they're jerks.I had gym teacher like that,he chose to have fights ensue IN gym class,I called him on it after he wanted me to NOT avoid one.

If the group has a legitimate problem with one person, why not just have a group gig some other place/time and not tell him? It's passive/agressive in a silly way, but effective.

Another vote for the Cinzano treatment. Nothing says "go crawl into a hole and die" like a frame pump in the spokes.

Blow snot on him(by accident ) . I'd do it every chance I got, untill he said something about it, then give a very weak "Oh, sorry" .

Or you could force him off the road in a decsent. He'd never be able to catch up after the crash.

How about doing an Andy Lakatosh on Jame Carney here. (Grab his bars.) WARNING: This is very ugly cycling. Hilarious that the younger Barczewski ate crap because of his own attempts at taking out another rider. Lesson: Don't try to take out another rider with your own front wheel.

Mate,
They're too scared of him, someone would tell him.
I made the mistake of writing an official complaint against his even worse behaviour before/during and after races, the officials knew about him...I sent one copy to them and 1 to the state governing body. The officials were outraged at me, never spoke to me about it, unless I prompted them, I became a leper.
He waited for about 2 months, then during a handicap race where we were riding off scratch, he sprinted at me from behind and shouldered me very hard, trying to send me face first into the gravel. I managed to control my bike, sat for a minute, then thought "I ain't gonna let him scare me", and went back up the front and continued working. The official's car was right behind us, other riders told me they saw what happened and were disgusted, but the officials?....... not a word.
I am not totally innocent here, I confess to riding next to him and getting in his ear at times, but only after he has done some stupid deed like forcing a non threatening rider into the dirt, etc.

Alternately, you can buy the guy a beer and after shooting the ****, explain that blowing snot on people is a lot of fun and all but that you personally don't enjoy it.

Deride his manhood. Encourage others to do so as well. Laugh, point and otherwise ostracize. Change ride times. Intentionally drop him or let him ride off. He'll get it...maybe...

This is also the kind of guy who could get hit by a cricket bat and if he were knocked out, would wake up knowing he probably deserved it. Goons like this can be testy and mean but expect retaliation. For most it's part of the game.

I would never yell at the guy if I were you. It just eggs him on and annoys him.

But I sure as sheet would find a way to take him out, big time. And in a way that no one would know except those that you can depend on to keep a secret. Again, he's not going to learn anything from it. It's part of his game. But it will provide your local riders with a better sense of justice.

Factors

* Secrecy
* Potency -- you want this guy to be injured badly but not killed
* Legal -- try to do this in a way that keeps you out of legal trouble

Keep a razor blade in your waistband.
After a few laps, when the blade is at body temp, pull it out and cut him.
Because the blade is warm he wont even feel it.
A little something I picked up while doing hard time.

Go on a flyer, get him on your wheel. Make sure you have a gap (don't want to hurt anyone else). Weave right, brake while weaving left. He'll fall to the right, out of traffic.
