1" Fork Recommendations

Alright, here's what I'm looking for. Hopefully there's something out there.

1" Threadless
Carbon straight blades
Aluminum steerer
Under $150

I was thinking about the Easton EC50, but I can't seem to find one anywhere (I need a huge steerer, so used generally isn't an option).

Any thing I'm overlooking? Thanks.

Wound-up

1'' threadless ... yes
carbon straight blades ... yes
aluminum steerer ... no
under 150....maybe... try ebay?

How about the Performance Forte? I have actually heard fairly good things about it.

I have one of these So far (2K miles), it works fine. I was also limited to a 1" fork by my CAAD4 frame.

I have an Alpah Q GS-10 1" steerer (carbon fiber though) that has 20cm of steerer tube left I will sell you for $150 if you want it.. if not..off to eBay. This is a $400 fork and weighs less than 350 grams. Let me know.

edit: oops just read the original post all the way..not enough steerer tube..sorry.

Awesome, thanks! I had been looking at most of those.

The crown on the Wound-Up wouldn't quite go with the frame (vain, I know...).

The alpha definitely won't work. My head tube is 220mm...

That Performance fork looks pretty nice though. I generally shy away from house brands, for the usual reasons, but if it's served others well (and the price is certainly right!) I may have to give it a try.

Thanks!

whats the appeal of such an "aggressive" fork?

what do you mean by "aggressive?"

Yeah, huh? If you're talking rake, you should see my track fork...

This fork will be going on a bike with a pretty steep head tube (75*) so minimal rake will smooth it out at speeds a bit. 40 should be fine - I've run this combination before.

If you're talking about the way it looks, then hell, everything on a bike should look aggressive - like it's ready to pounce!

The fork on the lightspeed above seems to have little to no rake in it...what gives?

it's got plenty of rake. it just has straight blades
straight blades != no rake

mrt10x 05-16-07 09:57 PM

I think it is a combination of picture angle and the straight fork that is making it look so steep. I bet in reality it has 43-44deg of rake.

John Ryder 05-17-07 12:06 PM

Its got a rake of 40.

John Ryder 05-17-07 12:08 PM

Wound-Up offers 40 or 43 rake....maybe a 45 too.
