Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano chainrings on a Truvative crank?

Compatible? I hear the Truvative rings suck. Just what kind of benefit might I expect if I were to swap out the rings on my Elita crank?

Tks.

I would ride them for yourself. Bad setup has more to do with smooth shifts then anything. I run both, and don't notice any difference.

I put shimano D/A/ on my bontrager carbon and it looks hell of a lot better and shifts better
130 mm bolt pattern is all you need to wory about. Should be no adjustments

I broke a tooth off my Truvativ ring so I know they suck; but you're more than welcome to ride them to see for yourself.

Totally compatible.

All you have to do is make sure the BCD (bolt circle diameter) matches between the rings and the crank. Both my bikes have compact Truvativ cranks (rouleur and elita) and i swapped out their 36t rings for 34t rings from Shimano and FSA.

If you have not used them, how do you know they suck? Another BF proudct review backed by facts.

Trust me, they're not as good as shimano.

Since they are on my bike, I've used them. Just wondering why they say they're not so great and if my shifting would be smoother with Shimano rings. I don't know whether they suck or not. Lets put it this way, no teeth have broken off yet.

I have used them and complained about them here. I had replacements sent for my elita 3 times, and never got one that was straight. Shimano chainrings are totally compatible. You won't believe the difference when you make the switch.

You should buy TA or Stronglight rings. No one in England buys Shimano replacement rings....

My LBS sent me new rings - "Power Glide" - when I complained of poor shifting on my Truvativ Carbon Rouleur. The new ones shift well and look better too. For free, BTW.
