My first (completed) Century!
Finished the Cycle Salt Lake Century a few hours ago! It's the first century that I've finished. The first century that I attempted was back on the 5th when we abandoned when the wind kicked up to a 30 mph headwind and the sleet started (It snowed earlier on the ride and was hovering around 30 degrees!)
107.32 miles, 6 hours 1 minute in the saddle. 17.8 mph average.
I'm sore but I'll survive.

It was my first century too! Up to this point, I was doing about 100 miles or less per week, and my longest ride ever was about 40 miles. I was very glad that it was a flat century.
My group of friends and I were signed up to do the 67 mile loop, but at the 33 mile turnaround point, we felt good so we decided to go for the whole deal.
My stats were 106.3 miles, 6:35 at 16.0 miles an hour.
Nothing like paying 40 dollars to give you motivation!
Right now, it feels like the first time I rode a bike after several years of car ownership. I'm a bit sore everywhere, and my neck and shoulders took a beating today.
Congrats nosferaustin!

Yep, got the T-shirt.
I'm glad that I decided to do it. Now a 50 miler seems like a short ride!

Oh, I rode my 1981 Miyata 710, all ~22 pounds of it! (Not a lot of climbing on this one)

congratulations. I just did my first century today, also 107 miles, but the average speed was much slower. Probably somewhere around 14-15mph.

Nice job! That's a really good time. You probably rode right by my house in Kaysville. I was supposed to do this ride but found out earlier this week it wouldn't work. I rode out to Brigham City and back on Friday instead.

Congrats. I also did a century yesterday. Buena Vista Bike fest in CO. First 48 miles is uphill. Goes from 7900' to 10,200' in elevation. Some gorgeous scenery. Unfortunately the headwind on the way out turned around at the 50 mi mark so the RETURN was also in a headwind. 100 mi in 6:36. Considering the wind and the two long climbs around the lake I'm very happy with that.

It helps to have had a fairly nice tailwind for the first half. I think we were averaging almost 20 mph at the lunch rest stop at a little over the half-way point. This was definitely a great century to choose for a first one, well organized, good food and rolling terrain (only "real" climb was the turn around loop out on Antelope Island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake, after the 7.5 mile ride across the causeway)
Thanks for all of the support. I think I can justify getting a "new" bike now to my wife!
