Applying Frame Saver?

Is it possible to apply frame saver on a steel frame without taking off the majority the components (drivetrain) or does it need to be stripped?

A better question for C&V subforum.

It needs to be stripped because you have to spray the chainstays and make sure the bottom bracket and downtube is coated as well.

so you spray the outside of the frame as well? Not just the inside?

No no...the inside...he was saying make sure you get the inside of the DT and the BB shell...so you at least need to have the crank removed...and the BB depending on what system you are running (I think UT would be the only system to let you only remove the crank).

I would take it all the way apart. You want to seal up any holes you can. That stuff is nasty if it leaks out.

Yeah, there's little holes in the bottom bracket (maybe 1/2" in diameter or less?) for the insides of the chainstays.

Also keep in mind 2 light coats are better than 1 heavy one. Spray the big tubes for like 3 or 4 seconds, the stays can get 2 or 3 seconds and after sealing everything up, roll the frame around for 10 minutes. Let it sit for an hour or two, roll around some more and let it sit for 24 hours.

Then, if this bikes gonna see a lot of rain and snow, do that again.
