Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Half Nokon, half regular housing?

Hey guys,

so I'm sick of looking at all the cables on my bike, I don't like thumb shifting so Campy is out of the question.

I've read somewhere that some people have used Nokon cable housing to semi-hide the cables. Running them under the handle bar tape. I've also read a lot of posts and reviews stating how Nokon cables are a pain in the butt. So my question is can I just use the Nokon housing up front to make the tight turns, then regular housing to finish the job at the R.D. Any difference in the actual cable itself?

Thanks

Yes you can do it with out any problems...

Myself, I'll take the Campy thumb shifting any day to the Shimano swinging brake levers.

I'm thinking of using Campy Levers with the DA drivetrain on the Trek.

Nokon lists this setup:

For Shimano STI® systems-complete, ready to install gear set for front and rear, including stainless steel cable and fittings, for traditional exposed shifter cable routing, housing length 55.1", available in black or silver finish.
Were you able to route under the tape using the same length as if it were exposed?
