Help me pick an easton wheelset
I work at a bike shop and we get really good deals on easton wheels and components (better than most any other wheel manufacturer). That being said I am highly considering some of their wheels as a good set. I am looking to have a minimum of two wheelsets each with a powertap hub. I am only considering non-carbon clinchers. I have my eyes on the easton ea90 slx. At 1450 grams per set they would be some great climbing wheels. Also, anyone know anything about the Orion II or Ascent II wheelset with the offset rim in the rear? I prefer something that is durable and well made even if I have to sacrifice weight a bit.

Easton Circuits .. Easton has Circuit IIs also, the Circuits seen favored by many www.excelsports.com
use them to compare, they have an excellant rep. for all wheels. They show your wheels at www.coloradocyclist.com , others as well. Both these places are sharp, you can get a discount from your place after youknow some.

+ 1 for the Orion II's ...
Also, here's a FAQ link for the Easton wheel options. Pretty informative.

PS - you can always call their tech support with any questions.

I like the ea90 slx best so far. I like the no offset rim for some reason. I wish easton made silver rimmed wheels
...o well, for the price I am getting I cannot complain. My only concern is whether or not these wheels are durable for normal training on the rough pavement I ride on!

I had serious issues with the Circuit and wont be riding Easton wheels again any time soon. Before you buy make sure you read and understand the warranty...what they told me a few years ago was that if anyone other than Easton trues them it voids the warranty. That is pretty much BS IMO.
My circuits (well just the rear) went out of true 4 times in 3 months and I had my LBS true them each time...finally I sent them back to Easton who admitted I had a bad build but said my warranty was void because my LBS had trued them. I had them rebuilt and sold them as soon as I got them back from Easton.

I'm currently 195 lbs and have been training on a set for a year. They've needed a couple minor tweaks.

I've got the Tempest IIs with just over 4000 miles on them. I'm 189lbs and have never had a problem with them.

I would just about cut one off for a set of Orion II's. Makes me wonder: the wife wants 'em cut anyway...
