The Mother of all Mountains: the Giau*
* for today at least.
Today should prove to be an interesting stage in the Giro.
can't wait to see how fast the leaders (and the bus for that matter) go over Passo di Giau. fwiw Raimundas Rumsas went up it in +/- 33min last year at the Maratona.
I'll be tackling it for the the 3rd time in a little over a month. Trust me on this: it's a beeyatch.
Stay tuned...

I watched last night. I've seen lots of races, but I can't remember seeing pro riders reduced to such low speeds. The leaders looked like they were crawling at times. Di Luca, however, was very impressive. I wonder how many riders missed the time limit.

incredible...i find that pictures usually make climbs look more impressive than they really are; but the those graphs back it up...my legs hurt looking at that.

How long 'til Simoni declares Di Luca to be 'an extraterrestrial'... No moto THIS time, Gibo!
Man, those guys were looking thrashed at the finish. The last 3.9 km of the Tre Cime climb average 12.2%. I'd love to try it.

Not sure, but have a look here if you care to work it out. Great pic of a fully done in Paolo Bettini.

Botto, I have to ask, were you in America 2 years ago and had to ship off back to the other side? You remind me of a training buddy of mine that I miss riding with...esp. since I finally have the legs to challenge him on the hills.
