Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For the last year, I'm only able to ride about 6 hours/week, but I ride with a lot of focused intensity. I probably burn more calories recovering from the extreme teardown than riding

Hey, where's vegavixen, she could probably eat my meals on top of her own.

No one over 29 can get away with that kind of diet.
I eat pretty close to that (minus Oreas--can't stand them), but make up for it in other ways. I'm older than WR, and still losing weight...

2 lbs per week seems to be the accepted standard for max weekly weight loss. Personally, I believe there has to be fluctuation so I consider 1% of total bodyweight per week to be a better target. A 150lb person can lose 1.5lbs/week but a 300 lb person could lose 3lbs/week safely.

(except for the "can't stand Oreos" part!)

Yeah, I drink water all day, and a Coke or two for dinner. No coffee.

I agree. That's why the hardest weight to lose are those 5 - 10 extra pounds.

Regarding diet, I've lost about 12 lbs in the last year eating:
Breakfast: Oatmeal
Lunch: RIDE!!!!
post-Lunch Lunch: sandwich, a column of (14) Oreos, an apple
Snacks: a column of Ritz with Habanero sauce, a banana, two candy bars
Dinner: spinach salad, 5 slices of pizza (or similar enchiladas, 2 hamburgers, etc.), and a bowl of ice cream or another column of Oreos for dessert
Last snack: Big bowl of Honeycomb before bed
You, sir, are NOT my diet hero.

I lost about 30-40 lbs in a few weeks to a month tops. I wasn't really keeping track of the time, I just looked at the scale everyday before I took a shower and before I started 11th grade in the fall, I was 138-140 down from 170-180.

I was at an academic camp for 3 weeks where I ate lot of junk food, and it came up pretty quick. I was in sheer amazement when I saw that I'd gained atleast 10 lbs in three weeks. I started eating healthier and running a lot. I didn't eat any breakfast. I had a sandwich for lunch, and salad with chicken nuggets for dinner with other things mixed in, that was just a sample.

I'm 5'10.5 and I've been in this weight range ever since, maybe lost some more fat and put on more muscle because I've been lifting a bit and I can see more muscle but I haven't gained weight.

It might have been a little unhealthy, if such a standard exists, but I was eating 2 full meals regularly and working out, and my body's been the same way since even after freshman year at college. Now I'm just trying to gain muscle so I can go back and be a contender for the crew team instead of being a novice forever and can ride stronger.

And that as they say, is that.
