1st Road Bike...Is This A Good Deal?
I went to my local LBS and tried out about 6 bikes. The one that felt the best to me was an old Schwinn Circuit (brand new mint condition). All of the specs are listed in the photo below. Everything is 105 with Ultegra on the rear. They want $850 for it. Is this a fair price considering it is an older model (but still brand new)?
Thanks for the help.

What year is it? Sounds a bit pricey to me. But then again I'm no expert.

I rode a Schwinn circuit, the exact one in the picture for about a month before I bought my first road bike a few days ago, (I haven't taken pictures yet so I haven't posted a thread about it). I enjoyed riding the Schwinn because I hadn't ridden any other bikes. It is an ok bike, the technology is old just like the bike and it is heavy compared to newer bikes but it is still a good bike. My friend bought the Schwinn brand new from Mardens for like $350 but it was smoke damaged. I'd try and get them down to about $500 that would be a far price.

Besides, it's only 9 speed rear...you can get a good 8 speed for $700 new and a new 9 speed for $900 - $1000....not much difference to get the new 9 speed...if it were my money I wouldn't pay that much.

Maybe get the lbs to throw in tune ups (esp if you don't do your own maintenance), and discounts or freebies on the other cycling stuff you need. Bottles, cages, shorts, jerseys, cyclocomputer, shoes, seatpack, tools, tubes, tires, etc.
Edit: Maybe ask him to throw in new tires and tubes, even if they are ridable, they are 8+ years old haha.
Freebies might be the bottles and cages.
