The Sci-Con has landed

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Sci-Con has landed

This landed on my doorstep this afternoon. It's the 2007 version of the Sci-Con bicycle travel case. i thought you might enjoy a few photos.

It's always disconcerting to see "Fragile" noted on the BOX that you bicycle hard case arrives in. For that matter, a box for the case seems redundant too

The case..

Inside...

And 30 minute later... I can pack everything much faster now that I've figured out where everything goes. The case arrived without instructions.

Regards

How much did it cost? Is outside just plastic or is it reinforced by something. Looks kind of thin and fragile...

It appears that your frame/fork just perfectly fit into that width. Do they make different size cases, or is it one size fits all? Also, about how much $$$ are we talking?

Looks pretty sweet dude. Enjoy.

That bike is rhymin an stealin.

Sweet case. Fragile is Swahili for "strong", so you'll be fine.

Edit: does the frame rest on the chainrings and RD? Seems bad for it.

The case is one size fits all. I ride 53cm BMCs. I the indentations on the bottom of the fit the form of the frame very well, so it doesn't seem to be resting on the chain stays or seat stays at all. The "form" of the case strengthens it when it is closed. Very sturdy feeling, I'm feel confident in it's integrity. I"m planning on shipping the case via DHL from NY to Colorado Springs (anyone know any good group rides in late July, early August?) ahead of my trip this summer. The shipping costs through DHL is $85 for three day shipping, less than lugging it on to a plane.

If you look at the straps on the top tube, the frame seems to be "suspended" in the case and surrounded by padding when the case is upright.
