Riding near St Tropez

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Riding near St Tropez

I'm heading to St Tropez ( ) tomorrow and am trying to figure out if there is any decent riding nearby. I know there is that one route to the north that the Paris-Nice does on stage 6 usually. I also know that near the coast is non-stop development and I can pretty much forget about riding there.

Checking out google maps it looks like there may be some sweet spots to the north and east in some of those beautiful shaded green areas that usually mean good riding.

Any seasoned travelers care to give their ideas?

Thanks

France has a great network of minor roads. Get a map when you get there and pick some outlying villages that look cool. stay off the major roads and you'll be fine. i've not been to st. tropez but i have been to nice and other areas in the south to ride a few times. the roads are very well marked usually and i found it almost impossible to get lost. have a great time!
