any carbon fiber frame with forks new for $550 or less?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

if you are willing to wait till october of this year, pedalforce has a groupbuy and the price of the frame (carbon fiber zx3) may go down to $480 a pop.

then you'll have 70 for a fork

This is only 50 bucks more than you were looking to spend (plus 20 shipping). The seller has a ton of sizes. Leader is kind of wack, but the fame is fine, just your average no-name Taiwanese product re-branded with Leader graphics... if I got one, I'd invest 20 bucks in several steel brush-cup attachments for the powerdrill, and go over the frame until it was raw matte... add whatver stickers you want and get an autobody shop to clearcoat it... or just leave it raw and beautiful...

EDIT- my bad, it doesn't come with a fork... not that great a deal, actually...

This one is 649... comes with a fork.

$285

IMO, cheap CF is just cheap. It's not as easy to make a good CF frame as metal tubed. In this price range, I'd probably go for aluminum. You'll get a lighter frame.

Wow. Frame and fork for $ 285? That's a steal. I wouldn't mind building one up to ride as a beater. Anyone here has one?

Chuck gets discontinued and cosmetic blems from manufacturers, then paints them up and sells them cheap. If you look around the site, there are a lot of really inexpensive frames that look decent.

^^^yup and you have to remember that there is huge amounts of markup with bikes. You can place orders for frames in quantity from manufacturers in Taiwan for sometimes as little as $20 each in steel. Slightly more for aluminum or composite but not much more. Chucksbikes just takes advantage of that and grabs the blems and overstocks and still makes big $$ off every frame sold.
