What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just built it...I mean I JUST finished it! Maiden voyage in the morning. Industrial and sharp at the same time, at least I think so.

EDIT: Ok, seems my pic did not work.

There it is.

Nice! I'm building my bike with 07 Mirage groupset, but with 06 Veloce brifters. Is yours an 06 or 07 group?

And I really like that Scattante. If you can get over the fact that the first four letters of Performance's fake Italian frame maker are, indeed, "SCAT," it's a decent frame for real cheap.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh....cool, thanks for the tip on the pics. I built it up with a mix of Veloce, Mirage, and Chorus, it's definitely not '07...and honestly, I'm not what year(s) it/they are. Some stuff I bought new last year, and some is from eBay. The shifters were used, but not much as they still had the original campy grease inside, and it had nary a spec of dirt in it and the hoods looked like they had maybe a dozen rides on them. I suspect that they were take-offs from a new bike as was the rear der. The cranks, stem and bars are all Ritchey. And since now I know how the pics work, here is a couple more... love to see yours when it's done.

P.S. For those of you who would like to see my pictures of our trip to Peru, all the pics are on flickr. Search for matthew_ferdinand to see them. I've got about 30 of a few hundred uploaded so far.

Sounds like a little decal modification might be in order.

Sweet - another Blue in southeast lower Michigan. Mine is on page 216 of this thread. Very nice ride, Tom. Did you get that at Bikesport?

Hey Gromit,

Yeah - I got it at Bikesport. Just picked it up - only have one short ride on it so far, but it felt so amazing. Accelerates like crazy and I really like the road feel, handling and dimensions vs. my Bianchi Eros. The NX7 geometry fits my short torso/long arms/long legs body spot-on.

I know what you mean. I've got long legs and a short torso, too, and I'm very happy with the RC4's fit.

Hmm. Curious as to why you would say that. I find the shop and the service to be quite excellent. Tom and Sarah spent a ton of time with me and did an excellent job fitting me. The price was exactly what Blue recommended and the bike was well put together when I picked it up.

you are 1/10,000. everyone i have spoken to who has gone in there has had nothing but problems with tom & the staff. i'm glad you got good service & got a bike that you enjoy (kinda hard not to enjoy that thing), it's just that i've heard of a great number of poor experiences with bikesport from some people whose word i trust. to be honest, you are the 2nd person i've heard about who had a good experience with them. i'll stop now as i don't want to start a southeast michigan bike shop war.

I'll share my Bikesport experience, which was a mix of good and bad:

Made an appointment for initial fit. Showed up on time, then waited an hour to get fit because Tom was working with another client. Fairly irritating, but he spent a lot of time w/ me as well and was good to talk to since I've been through 5 knee surgeries and he had been through a few as well so he could relate.

Next afternoon, he called back after he had talked w/ the Blue Rep for me and got clarifications on some measurements from Blue's site. We settled on the NX7 vs other frames and I wanted Campy. I ordered a Campy build w/ the Zondas the next day. He said it should be 3-4 weeks tops as everything was in stock at his suppliers.

At 4 weeks I called back and they said they were having trouble getting the Centaur crankset and it would be another week or two. Two weeks later I called back and they said there were still a few straggling parts and that the wrong crankset had been delivered twice. I was pretty fed up at this point but decided to give it another week. Called back at week 7 and when the bike wasn't ready I was prepared to cancel the order and go elsewhere. I said as much, and Tom offered me a pretty generous discount if I'd give it another week. I decided since I'd waited so long, and didn't want to start the process over somewhere else, I'd give it another week - especially with the cash I'd be getting back. They called a few days later and said the bike was in. I scheduled a final fit, showed up on time and waited about 20 minutes to get fit. The bike was set up perfectly when I hopped on - we made very minor adjustments and I was out the door.

Bike feels great, fits fantastically and I'm really, really happy with it. In the end, I got a great bike for a great price but had to wait 2 months to be on it. Everyone at the place was good to work with, but it was a struggle to get to the endpoint. So overall I'm happy, although I'd prefer not to go through it again.

Wow, that Centaur is actually pretty sharp looking stuff. I did not realize that it had carbon, etc... Is that a shot at Ultegra there? Does it shift as well as other campy? Great looking bike.
