Here's my newly purchased '08 Specialized Roubaix Elite. My first road bike in many years.
I picked it up this morning from the LBS. Got home around 11am and had a scraped shoulder and knee by 11:05. Now I just have to figure out how to use these damn clipless pedals....

Hi everyone, I haven't been on bikeforums in awhile, but here's my road bike- I train on it and race on it (first season, cat 5- got a top 10 finish at the end of the season), and I've also ridden it on long-distance stuff, like a century and a 300k brevet. I'm saying it's comfortable is what I'm saying.
Van Dessel Flahute, frame from Ebay
Shimano 105 shifters, cranks, brakes, FD, Ultegra RD (9 speed)
I built the wheels, Velocity Fusions on 105 hubs
The stem and bars are FSA
Alpha Q fork

As clean as it's ever going to be:

Hi Brazilian. Looks like you got hooked up by your Trek dealer looking to close out Disco stuff. Nice. Wierd to see something so Shimano with Look's though.

not really sure...I think the tape has a bit of a crease in it...it's wrapped tightly though...Fizik microtex is a little fussy sometimes...

I figured I'd get a quick picture of it. It still needs a shorter stem, and for the levers to be alligned.
The bike was lent to me by my coach as a winter/cross bike. It came with some super-heavy, generic wheels with a 7 speed cassette. It also had some annoying Radonneur bars, Campy aero levers with non-aero hoods hastily fitted on, a heavy seatpost/saddle that was torn, and Salsa rainbow "gay-pride" bar tape.
So, the day I got it, I took an old 8 speed MTB cassette, my old Xero XR-1's and the 13 and 12 tooth sprockets from a toasted 10 speed cassette and put something together.
The two smallest sprockets of the MTB cluster wouldn't fit onto the freehub, so I put the Ultegra's and lockrings on. Now it's an 8 speed. The tires are Ritchey Cross something's, and look like they're for dry conditions.
The "new" bars are some chopped NJS steel bars from EDR from a while back, Dia-Compe levers I had laying around, and the only new part is Cinelli black cork tape I got from work.
The post is the stock carbon-wrapped alloy Cannondale post with my old ASPide saddle.
The crank is a FSA carbon team crank with one ring and two thick chainguards.
The frame is a Fuji Cross, made with TIG'd Columbus Genius steel tubing. It's pretty heavy at around 20lbs, but it could be lighter for <$100.
So far, it's awaiting Crank Bro's Eggbeater pedals.
