I went shopping for a new bike last week and left the bike shop with this! I upgraded the wheelset at the shop to race lites, and I had a Ricthey stem and Bontrager race x lite bar from my previous bike. I also added my Selle Italia and Conti Gatorkins to finish it off
. I am really happy with the ride so far, it's a wonderful upgrade from aluminum!

I mean no offense to fixed-gear riders or owners; hell, I ride single-speed from time to time. but I swear to God if I see another fixed-gear bike in this this thread, I'm going to have a *****-fit...
I know you ride your bikes on the ROAD, but you have your own damn thread in the fixed-gear forum made just for you guys. I don't want to hear any semantics arguments either; stop avoiding the real topic.
All hell would break loose if a road bike was subitted in the fixed-gear forum bike-pic thread (unless specifically asked for).
So from now on, I respectively request that if "your bike ain't got no gears, it ain't supposed to be in this thread".
EDIT: I'm really upset right now, lost two family members in 2 weeks and I am on withdrawal from pain meds from knee problems, and for some reason the meds they gave me make me super emotional.
This is not an excuse, merely and explanation, I'm stil being a turd-face.

honestly I'm tired of fixies, too. That aside though I can relate with the meds. the prednisone and anti-rejection meds do the same thing to me from time to time (kidney transplant) as do glucose levels with the diabetes.
It's very annoying to say the least.

cyclingvirtual, why a disc cover on a trainer bike? Surely there are better places to take advantage of those aero benefits?

Updated pic...same 2006 Fuji Roubaix Frame/Post/Stem/Bar w/Reynolds Ouzo Comp Fork...decided to give Campy components (2007 Mirage/Khamsin) a try this go-round...and yeah, I refinished it again. this time something a little more subtle, Midnight Blue. Hey, painting/building street rods is fun hobby, so why not spice up the frames?

it's not for the novice that's for sure. you really gotta pay attention to what type of 'canvas' you are working with, that's where most mistakes are made.

did it myself. it's something I've been doing for quite sometime now, on rat/street rods that is. so I figure hey, why not apply them skillz to my new hobby when I get the chance.

For example, the first time I refinished this frame (7k series Al) I used a paint stripping process that was toxic; respirator and a good ventilated booth was used. Then used PPG products to clean, etch and prep the bare metal for the first coat of primer.
The second go-round, the product of which you see now, I used a media-blasting setup a buddy of mine has in his garage for stripping small (frame-size) auto parts, he likes to powder coat rather than paint. Again I used PPG products to clean & prep the bare metal for the first coat of self etching primer. Notice here that acid was not used to etch prior to primer; the primer is a newer blend that has self etching properties inherent to it.
Regardless, there is limited work time between when the bare metal is exposed and first coat is applied...all metals oxidise in their own special way. You want as little as possible.
Also notice, I like to use products from the same manufacturer for simplicity of compatibility and mixing issues. It helps ensure a quality finish.
BTW mister 0861...we have alot in common, calling for fire...except mine was more OJT as a 2531 with 3/1.
