Dr Pete, why is the seat collar clamp anodized blue? Looks really out of place on an otherwise really sharp machine. That bike looks fast just sitting there. Isn't there a black clamp available? Very odd and distracting IMHO.
If you've already answered this question elsewhere I apologize in advance.

I've gone out for a few rides and it's just stupid fast. It's 90% the position that the bike allows rather than the cool aero frame, but the speed difference is quite noticeable, especially hammering away on the flats or descending.

My new baby, best bike "I" have ever ridden. Definitely doesn't compare to some of these others in looks though. Thinking about maybe getting some silverish bar tape for it too.

2006 Trek 1000. Nothing special at all compared to some of the bikes I've seen, but I like it alot. The bike I had before this was ~26 pounds of lugged steel with Shimano 600 12 speed components. This is a big step up from that haha. Maybe one day I'll have a Cervélo or a Colnago or something like that, but I'm happy with my Trek 1000.

I would probably paint that Masi 3V. Those are steel, correct? Or, to retain character (because I personally think it looks awesome right now) you could just clear coat it. Scratched up like that I would imagine it's pretty prone to rust, but I dunno if they have something under it.
What year is it btw?
