Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Since I've posted it everywhere else, the first bike I put some real miles into. I got it for free from my dad's friend who bought it in the mid-late 80's, rode it twice and put it away until 2005.
I raced it tongiht in the P123 crit and did reasonably well. It's a really cool crit bike. I like the geometry.
Finally, this is the bike's finished state. Nothing else major will be done to it, unless I can find some old 7-speed Dura-Ace in good condition for it to match the RD.

Cool old Cannondale! ^^

Here's an updated pic of mine from last weekend...still going strong:

Changes since the last time I posted it:
  • Centaur brakes
  • Centaur 10 speed crankset & Token BB
  • Went from 7 to 8 speed via an 8 speed rear wheel (Campy hub, Matrix rim, 12-21 Record Cassette-its flat in S. Jersey) - 130mm pops right in the frame no problem.
  • Campy Mirage rear der - really nice looking piece of hardware.

1985 Schwinn Sprint (by Giant)

I received this bicycle for free as I was searching for an older 10 speed to rebuild as a strength building daily rider as I already have a hybrid for long distance and commuting purposes. It has SunTour Hero components all around and I replaced the tyres, cables, and tubes. Cleaned the whole bike up, trued both the front and rear wheels and did massive adjustments to the seating, and dérailleurs. Topped it all off with brand new handlebar wrap from Specialized and voila, I have a solid daily rider.

Your first road bike and you got all Dura Ace? What are you going to upgrade to when you get the bug like everyone else on here?

PS - nice bike.

Lung, is that just a clear-coat over the Excalubur? It looks good.

Soon, I'll have the Damocles repainted (the cheap team paintjob is coming off in places). I wonder whether I can get it clear-coated like your's, if your's is indeed clear-coated.

Pure Adrenalina Italiana!!
I just took these shots last week in a studio. Enjoy!
Beautiful ride, but I cannot help but feel somehow overwhelmed with how complicated it appears.

Yep. Simple clearcoat over carbon... with just a few graphics here and there. I had a Damocles (2005) and actually like the look and ride of the exaclibur better. I test rode all the Ridley's in the line up and kept coming back to the EX. The Noah was super sweet... but not so much so that is was worth double the cost of the Ex. I love it.

Here she is a with a new wheelset, seat, stem and bar. I'm loving the new ovalized/flat top bar, the wheels are also nice and strong for my 195lb ***. Way better than the shimano wh-550s that came on it.... The setback on the seatpost sucks, I need to find a more centered style clamp.
