What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am sorry but you are wrong

https://www.hasselbladusa.com/products/h-system.aspx

a camera can be either digital or use film, depending on what back a medium format camera has it will either be a digital medium format camera or a film medium format camera.

some sell with a film back, some with a digital back, and some with no back at all.

Still a medium format film body with a digital back. I think Leica announced a "true" digital medium format body with a 30x45 mm sensor at Photokina.

a medium format film body is not a film body if a digital back is used on it. it is simply a medium format body and it is a digital camera

it is a matter of convenience that camera backs are interchangeable, it is not because it is technically hard to create a solely digital one. Too many photographers who use medium format shoot with film to think a solo digital one would sell when they can buy top range digital backs

Yes, technically it's a Hasselblad MF camera with a digital back.

This bike is awesome to me. It rides great. One thing that I noticed is that this bike is extremely response to all of your movements. I am still getting use to it after about 2 months now. Overall for the price and ride quality I could not be happier.

I guess now that I have a road bike an ride on roads, I can start posting in this forum

She's nothing special, but for a first road bike (and I'm hooked already) it does the job. It's a '84 Raleigh Marathon. Suntour setup 6spd. Swapped out the original crank for a Shimano 105 I got for cheap (and for the longer arms). Put some new rubber on it, new seat and seatpost, wrapped the bars and threw some dual-pivot brakes on it. I got it in perfect and barely used condition from my manager; was her husband's bike. Have all the original parts I've swapped stashed away for return back to original someday...but for now I want to make it work for me and ride it.

Not bad for the $20 purchase price

Thread in C&V with original pics after I picked it up

Here is my Nishiki Olympic 12 which I crashed in February. I did some cleanup, put on some new handlebar tape, a new front tire and tube, and took all the racks and stuff off it- down to the essential bicycle. I can't wait to take this out on the Trinity Trail.

Gaudy handlebar tape- just the thing to spruce the ol' girl up

The drivetrain

The ugly: damage from the accident. The missing paint is where things were bent

Even with all that, from a distance she looks pretty good, and she still rides true. The only thing she really needs is a trueing of the wheels. The rims are pretty straight and all, but when I ride her I get some spoke creak.

Here a pic and the original Merckx brochure I got when purchased way back when.
The bikes has over 60,000 miles on it and I still ride it all the time.

That's is a gorgeous bike. I'd love to come across a Merckx somewhere. Problem is that the people that have them know what they are. And either they won't part with them or they want a small fortune for them. I would be the same way..Again very nice bike..

Thanks Yeah, I guess saying that was a bit mean to it I look at the incredible/new/fancy bikes posted here and the materialistic part of me really wants one. But, when I get home from work and head out on that old Raleigh I'm reminded of how nice of a bike I get to ride for next to nothing cost-wise. Puts things back in perspective.

Oh, I had no doubt it was. Whatever gets you comfortable and on the bike. I was just posting the standard BF response to an upright stem angle. Nice ride BTW.

If the seat had a 4 inch drop to the handlebar someone would still say flip it. Ride whats comfortable. It looks nice! Enjoy!

^^^^ not to mention it looks as if the bike already has a good sized saddle to bar drop, any more change and it can make for a pretty painful ride.

Thanx!!

I bought it brand new, trained on it, raced it, going on 20 years now. Its the only road bike I ever wanted.
I've ridden everything out there, and still to this day I've never found anything that rides as well.
I'll never sell it. So I guess I'm one of those guys!!

Exactly. I'm 6'2+, have long legs and relatively short arms, so this is how I set up. I also prefer to ride in the drops most of the time so my bars are probably relatively higher than some would like for their in-the-drops sprints.

I'd love to take credit for it being in such good condition but the quality of this bike is unmatched. Super thick paint and chrome.
I've recently wrapped the bars in white tape and replaced the saddle, 3rd one, from the photos.
Since I purchased the bike, saddles, bar tape, tires, wheel sets, chains and cogs are all that I've ever had to replace/worn out. I've had a couple slides that scuffed me up but I saved the bike...
The bike is completely original and up to original spec. other than the new saddle. Complete D/A
still using all the original components.

Here's a link to my gallery (55 pics) with my original documents, magazine articles with geometry and frame details :

That's hilarious..We all know when you go down you have to put yourself between the bike and the pavement. I can be bleeding from my eyes and the first thing I check is the bike..
I like everything about that bike, the story, history, documentation, components etc.. The only thing I hate is that it isn't mine. I think for the first time since I've been on this forum I am actually jealous..
