What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's hilarious..We all know when you go down you have to put yourself between the bike and the pavement. I can be bleeding from my eyes and the first thing I check is the bike..
I like everything about that bike, the story, history, documentation, components etc.. The only thing I hate is that it isn't mine. I think for the first time since I've been on this forum I am actually jealous..
Isn't that soooo true!!
The first thing I did was check my bike.... didn't notice my shoe was filling with blood....

So I take it you checked out the gallery???
(jealous) You and most of the guys I ride with although they don't admit to it as readily. Its been fun over the years, at stops the ppl that know what it is come over and check it out. Most cant believe how old it is. I've been using car wax to clean it, turtle wax for years and now maguires.

Merckx still makes bikes, I was on a different forum and someone there said there was a limited production run of replicas. About 100 were made, they weren't true replicas tho. No chrome and different tubes and geometry. Still they were supposed to be pretty good riding and had the 7-11 paint scheme.
Here's the merckx link if it helps:

Hai gaiz - I have been lurking around BF for a bit now, I originally stumbled in here after a search yielded the tarck/ssfg poseur thread. I ride a BD Windsor Wellington 2.0. The only changes I have made since I got it midsummer have been the tires, LOOK clips and some Sidis I got for ~$60 (yay craigslist). I am wondering if my bike looks like its set up ok. One ladyfriend who used to race pro mentioned my posture looked off, but didn't have a lot of suggestions.

Seat looks to be a tad bit nose up for most people's comfort level, but if it fits you fine then don't worry about it

My 2006 Trek 1000 now with Selle Italia Filante saddle and Garmin Edge 305. I just wanted to post it again, and I thought a new saddle and computer were good enough reasons

That's been bothering me for a while. I wanna get it cut, but after I spent all the money from my birthday on the seat and Garmin, I'm broke. Maybe later this month.

the bike shop should be able to cut it for free. It just takes a hack saw and a stabilizer tool. Not a difficult or even time consuming process.

I'm going for a ride with my LBS tomorrow, I should ask. I figured they might charge 15 or 20 bucks, considering they charge about $60 for a very basic tune up. I don't know, I guess we'll see tomorrow morning

I just love how the seat stay hugs the rear wheels! Sexy!

Btw, you're from WV? I saw a thread recently stating that WV is the WORST state to be a cyclist!!!

Probably not the worst state, but they don't put alot of emphasis on shoulders on their roads so it gets pretty tight riding sometimes. I'm in the eastern panhandle so I do alot of riding in Maryland and Virginia. My area has alot of people that have moved here from other states so they are a little more tolerant. The native West Virginians are still a little impatient to cyclists...

Tough crowd. I'm certain my chain will never be the same for having been posed this way.

According to this article, it is the worst state to be a cyclist https://www.roadcycler.com/2008/09/th...rank/#more-528

https://www.oregonlive.com/news/index...icycle_su.html

But I guess you're on eastern side of it closer to VA & MD. I have family in Charleston (closer to Ohio) and it's horrible to ride there! I tried....it's not too bike friendly

It sure does. I do my part to change the thought process of the locals around me by smiling, waving and not getting in their way. It also said that the amount of cyclists in the state was pretty low so the data is a little inaccurate. I'll still ride here regardless...I love my normal routes..

My first road bike, my first build. So far so good, but soon to be replaced with a NOS Kestrel RT700 frameset/Ultegra SL group.
