Back in the down tube friction days, I used to run my brakes backwards - left/rear and right/front. That's tough to do these days, much less being forced on the ONLY way to run cables. It's all about preference.

One possible reason for the crossed cables is continuity with cross bike cabling. When I was racing cross seriously I switched my road bike brake cables to the same routing for easier transitioning. Quite often I would ride my cross bike as many hours as my road bike as I was getting ready for cross season in Mass.

2003 Roadie
Found this photo of my 03 Roadie. Should have never sold it. Bought into the marketing hype of a newer bike. I found I still average 17.4mph on my new bike as I did on the "heavier" steel Gunnar. I guess its not about the bike afterall and it is the engine that powers it.

Just got my 09 allez sport. I had some trouble deciding between the sport ant the elite, but I couldn't bring myself to pay $250 more for, essentially, a 1 Lb lighter frame the carbon seat stays.

Felt F80 , FSA carbon light crank, FSA Platinum series BB, Shimano pedals, carbon stem and FSA carbon headset and spacers

1991 Nishiki Modulus 7 speed was my cousins before he passed away. She is original other than a new rear detailer and lighter wheel-set. This is the Girlfriends bike for now until she gets her "Specialized" Christmas present. that lucky girl

Daily commuter too and from classes single speed

70's Schwinn 62cm single speed stealie.

also have a 56cm matching FELT F80 frame in my work shop to be build into something.
let me know what you think

If your old bicycle made you happy, you should've kept it. I like new stuff, so I exchanged(though I probably won't trade this frame out for a long time).

My GURU Carbinio/Ti (14.9lbs)
2006 GURU Carbonio/Ti
I wanted one of these since they were first introduced. I've owned many bikes but this bike is by FAR the finest I've ridden. Plush ride, plenty stiff, and quality craftmanship that rivals any other. I love the more traditional geometry. The bike looks amazing in real life. No pictures on the internet do justice to the marble-like effect of the filament wound carbon tubes. It is a beauty of a bike. It has drawn comparisons to the Colnago C-50 (but prettier). I wish more manufacturers would still make bikes like this. I've owned several other carbon rides (Bianchi, Fuji, Ridley) and a Merlin Ti. This bike shames them all. I stumbled onto it in a shop in Texas. Hanging on the wall... never ridden. It's a new 2006. Hope you like the build. It weighs in at 14.96lbs at a 57cm frame.

Full Dura Ace with SRAM Force crankset
ZIPP 303 Tubulars
Deda Zero 100 Stam / Deda Newton Bars
3T Doric Team Post / SLR Saddle
Speedplay Pedals
Bontrager Race XXX Lite cages (17g ea.)
Omni Racer Ti Skewers (24g pair!)
Fizik Tape
