What road bike do you have?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lemond Zurich - this is my crit bike, race bike, rain bike. This is an older pic, I now run SRAM Rival on this bike along with white bar tape and a white saddle.

lemond2.jpg

Derosa Avant with SRAM Force and K-Force crank, I also use Dura Ace brakes instead of the Force ones. I hate the AC 420's and have replaced 5 spokes in the rear over the last year. They flex like crazy if you try to sprint or jump out o the saddle.

Awesome! If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for the DA group? What were you upgrading from? And do you think it was worth it?

I upgraded from DA 7700 the old 9-speed. I have put 20kms on the 7900 so far, since with the cold weather we are having it is hard to get over a half hour in at a time. But from what I have felt so far it is worth it. The hoods are longer and have a really nice feel to them. The shifts are precise and smooth. So far I am loving it and worth it.

I actually did some work for a bike shop and they did a trade deal so in terms of cost, I have no idea.

Nice bike, whether you post a pic or not, I think you'll do just fine. Unless the bike is very poorly matched in size to you; seat, seat post, stem, bar adjustments are sufficient for fitting a bike, especially a <$1000 bike. I only say this since, say if you were buying a $4000+ bike for example, then perhaps a professional fit first on a Serotta machine would be a must along with a try out period. It is true though that this stuff gets expensive (from a owner of 9 bikes ). Performance Bike will take good care of you though - fitting, gear/brake tuneup etc, and they must have given you a 30day trial?

Yeah, it was actually performance bikes in Santa Monica. The guy who helped me was great, and they seem like they have pretty good customer service also, aside from being real busy and mabey a little understaffed. 10% store credit on everything you buy, and free adjustments for life, I definatly feel secure in buying from them.

Thanks for the post.

2009 FSA OS-115 White Stem, White is new for 2009. Titanium with a carbon face plate. Matches the FSA compact bars also in white. The challenge is finding the right colour bar tape to show off the white stuff. I went with black for now.

I was actually going for a look which included a white fork. The shop I bought this one from had white custom painted from easton but they sold out and I had to go with the black. I was going with black in the back and White up front.

Yeah, I got the 30 days.

I already knew the size I needed, I have been looking for quite some time, going in, and working with/annoying the reps there. The fitting went really well, I never knew how much went into it.

If you wanna see seatpost, check out my teammate.

The one in front. His bike looks ridiculous sitting by itself, it's hard to believe anyone can ride it. I don't have a pic of just the bike though. His saddle-bar drop is something like 6.5", I measured it once.

you can take a good 2 inches, maybe 3 off of the seatpost b/c of the sloping top tube.

That's what I thought, too. Why wouldn't he get a bigger frame?

I think he's about 6' 3" and he rides a 56 I think. His torso is too short to ride anything longer, and he's flexible enough to deal with the saddle-bar drop. He's all legs, which makes fitting kinda difficult.
