Same situation here more or less, and I pretty much agree with you. OTOH, except in terms of price, how is that BMC different from your average Road Cycling thread, where a rider is asking about which bar tape they should use? All in search of their own sense of independence, individuality, and the American way no doubt.

An ultra light fixie is on the list of things I want to build someday. I was thinking about trying to make a 14-15lb fixie out of one of those old cannondale criterium frames.
