Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Give our lil girl a lil break. It is her first carbon bike. At least she didn't start a whole new thread about it.

Just a shot of the the SL Club at the summit of our 35 mile ride today. Not very steep, but a tremendous amount of rolling 500-800ft rolling inclines along the way. Pretty standard ride for us.

Motobecane immortal inferno

Started out mountain biking. Bought a 1986 trek roadbike
(50$ at a garage sale)
to help me get faster on my mountain bike. Enjoyed it so
much. I bought a new 07 lemond Reno. Ended up using
mountain biking to help me get faster on my road bike.
Just bought a Motobecane immortal inferno w/SRAM red.
Only have a couple hundred miles on it

I think it's a pretty cool bike. Ignore the haters.

Here's the most recent incarnation of my road bike. I'm stuck in the 80s, but I did clean up the cockpit a little- ergo bars, aero brake levers and Bar-Con shifters, with all cabling under the handlebar wrap.

Seems more like a joke and not hating to me... AND DANG I want bar-con shifters soooooo bad for my oldie but it's hard finding friction at a descent price.

I've got Bar-Cons on two of my bikes- this one and a 1994 hybrid I put drop bars on. I paid an average of $45 per pair.

If you want to pick up a pair, check in on the C&V sales forum; they show up now and again.

It's braced on the pedal, not touching the derailleur.

The disk on my bike is probably the least dorky thing about me, though, so I'm not terribly worried.

It's called an "Omamori". It represents a safety blessing from a local shrine here in Japan.

I'm just noticing that fence that giantcfr1's bike is leaning against. Obviously synthetic, but realistic looking. Neat. Haven't seen them here in the U.S.

Good eye. I'm usually too buggered by the time I get to that point of the ride, to notice the fence. For some reason I'm thinking concrete, but I could be very wrong.

RB1-luvr, I noticed your bridgestone avatar...here's a nice Bridgestone for ya that an old dude near my house owns.

I'm guessing that the NJS bikes are badged as Bridgestone, but all other track bikes, Road, MTB etc are badged as Anchor here in Japan. The name Anchor isn't used in the US, because it gives the impression of weightiness, but here the name represents strength where it counts. ie. anchor in a relay etc.

that's cool. Thanks. Someday I'm hoping to buy a Bridgestone track bike/frame. They are pricey. I didn't know about the Anchor badging.
