What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

this exact conversation came up at the shop when i was discussing my 'group.' i'm frankly surprised to have received two comments on it, i thought that if anything, the picture exposure and contrast would be the first thing to get slammed.

I have a (comparatively) ghetto Fuji Newest 1.0. Just changed the rear rim to a Forte Titan - cant afford to make the change on the front one right now though. I'm jealous of all of you who have nice bike paths where you live, here in Cerritos there's pretty much nowhere pretty to bike

Welcome to the Forums Reeses. (I love Peanut butter cups btw) I am a big fan of Fuji Bikes and recently gave a 2002 Fuji Newest as a gift to my girlfriends father. Was something wrong with the front wheel that you replaced it? Or are you just considering this an upgrade?

So what you're trying to tell him is that the bike he is currently riding, and shifts fine, actually doesn't work. But some how he hasn't noticed this? And of course you were able to deduce this over the internet without ever actually seeing it? Are you some sort of super hero or something?

So what you are trying to tell me is that you have deduced over the internet that his bike does ride and shift fine without ever actually seeing it? Are you some kind of super villain or something? Do you know what the difference between Ui2 and Di2 is? They designed it to shift differently, in this case slower, as they have made a long standing habit of doing to differentiate between the two groups. If he and his mechanic have subverted the mechanical limiting factor then goody for him and as far as I was concerned that was the end of it.

Thanks. Actually I replaced the back wheel because I dented it a little after crashing (that's me being stupid ). The front wheel is okay, just mismatched.

Got ya. Pretty much all stock wheels are worth upgrading. they used to at least give you wheels built up by shimano. But most of the time is is ALEX, Generic, stuff. Consider the bent wheel a blessing in disguise and look to get a complete set at some point. In the meantime. Enjoy what you have and the ride the hell out of it.

Yeah I was looking to upgrade anyhow. How much would you say an Alex AKX R1.0 (stock Newest 1.0 rim) is worth? Around $30 I'm guessing? I'm trying to sell it to get some cash for the Forte Titan to complete my wheel set.

who's mentioned Ui2 or Di2? I'm pretty sure he's on a mechanical group since he's talking about cable pull... And I'm using his first hand account of how the bike functions as the basis for my statements. Not assumptions.

ui2 and di2? you've either mistaken me for a far wealthier and/or a more wildly irresponsible consumer of bicycle components, or you've managed to mistakenly conflate shimano electronic with 6700 and 7900.

the zipp-attired cannondale looks fantastic, i'd love to see a better picture of it. that's a serious stem.

You, Yaniel, and anyone else looking to spread holiday cheer are free to PM me, and subsequently be ignored, outside of this thread. Womensecks picture is much better than you realize, by the way. Film is known for its warmth and inviting softness and capturing the air quality that can inhibit true color representation. Non-digital qualities aside, the framing and holiday subjects in the picture made for the best Christmas related picture of a bike I saw this year even if it did cut off the corner of a tire and rim. (and he used a program to give his cell picture a film look)
