jtmi - nice bike - quite a difference from the 80's schwinn, eh?! enjoy!!!
funny thing about treks: a 2011 trek madone 5.2 ($3200) has the exact same paint scheme - not sure what the marketing advantage to that is...

This picture turned out terrible, and so is the bike. It's basically all the stuff off of my Trek. I am stripping, and painting it, and I wanted a beater bike for the winter. So I threw everything on my old Schwinn, that was previously SS commuter. Rode it 40 miles today. It climbs like an anchor, and flexes like a leaf spring. It was actually comfortable on the crappy roads I road. Even with a non padded saddle. Touring geometry sucks, but it rides smooth.

me too. They may be bullet proof, but the are heavy as hell. Combine the 2035g wheelset, with the heavy steal frame, and a junk 6XXg fork, and you've got one heavy pos. It was my dad's bike he gave it to me, and it was my first road bike. I'll never get rid of it, so I throw parts on it once in awhile.

It was my dad's last road bike, my first. He went off in the gravel on the side of the road, and crashed it. He then wanted nothing to do with skinny road tires. So I bought him a mountain bike, and took the Schwinn. A love affair of road cycling soon started.

i am starting to think paint makes up most of its 2500g weight. after many many miles, moves, and shop handling the paint still looks great.

Hi. I ride a 2010 cube agree GTC. Love the bike. Mounted new mavic race pedals last week, and are looking foward to try them. But outside there are snow and -8c, so it could take a while before I get the chance.
Meanwhile, I ride my old 1991 miyata quickcross.

On a separate note, I remember seeing a restored road bike - I think it was a silver Pinarello from the 70s with red cabling. It was absolutely dynomite.
Would anyone have bookmarked it by any chance?

Here is my ride: Shogun 200 that I bought new in 1986. Mostly original components, but my bike shop did replace the double crank with a triple. New stem and bar to make the bike fit me better. Chromoly, double butted frame with friction shifting is definitely "old school".
