Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

here is the new one. Almost done. Just have to cut cable, wrap the bars, tune derailleurs and enjoy the ride.

First Road Bike

My very first road bike as a young adult. It's a 2011 Raleigh Revenio 4.0 Aluminum-Carbon Fork

Managed to pull this bike off eBay.

The seat-post is really short due to my height

Going to change the dirty bar tapes as well when I had no choice but to fix the chain during my bike ride.

Nice bike!
If it fits you, that's all that matters. Have you had it fitted at a bike shop? They can help get things fine tuned for you.

Tip: throw a couple latex gloves in your saddlebag or pockets when you go riding so you don't have to get your fingers dirty.

Yeah definitely getting my gloves today.

One of my mentors/professor at uni is a racer who is really experienced in bike fitting and maintenance so he helped me with the fitting as well as cutting the seat-post down by a few inches not beyond the threshold limit.

As for the rear bag, I am guessing my best bet is the smallest size I can find as for now to fit it nicely with my tools in it.

Do all new bikers have a OCD towards the cleanliness of their bike? Somehow I am. Whenever I see dirt and spots on it, no choice but to wipe them off nicely since its a white frame!

That limitation is MINIMUM insertion, not maximum cut level. As long as you have about 3.5-5" of seatpost below the collor, you can probably cut everything else. Lol. I personally have never been a fan of chopping seatposts. you never know when you need to put it on a stand that has a longer clamp than usual.

Yeah there is more than 5" of seatpost below the collar. It is a really long seat-post.

Just remember, since it is a (carbon bike right?) you will want to only clamp it by the seatpost and not by the frame when doing maintainence. So leave yourself a good 6-8" to allow for clamp space. Or is that thing aluminum? I can't tell. The pearl paint on the frame is doing very nice tricks with the eyes. If it's an alloy frame, you can always clamp to frame or bb.

Thanks. Was always a fan of the smaller companies and it's nice to ride something you know nobody else is riding. At least, very little chance anyone near you.

The frame is aluminum, only the forks are carbon!

The collar is clamped on the frame. It has been that way when it arrived. Is this all right? Sorry, I know it's really difficult to deduce information from that picture!

Can you give me more a advice on the seat-post?

*Edit, to be more specific on the material, here it is. Hope it helps.
Frame
Atomic 13 SL Hydroformed, Butted Tubing, RE2P Geometry

Fork
Custom Carbon Composite w/Alloy Steer

The finished bike, my last (so the wife tells me), dream build. Ridley Excalibur frame, Shimano Dura Ace 9000 group, November RFSC 38 carbon rims with Chris King R45 11spd hubs, Sapim Cx-Ray spokes. Cockpit is Ritchey carbon Curve Bar and WCS 260 stem. Tape is the new Lizard Skins 3.2, super comfy! Have only one ride on it so far with recent weather that has come in but that first ride was lovely!

Now that my bike came in, guess I can play.
Almost bone stock 2012 CAAD10 4, a few adjustments and upgrades will be coming shortly.

Your silver CAAD 10 reminds me of my firs road bike. An old Cannondale 2.8 in polished Aluminum. Upgraded it with black 105 group. See above where it has lead me.

When you click on the picture icon, click the From URL tab, and uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" option. Paste your URL and Viola.

1) Copy the photo URL.
2) Click the "Insert Image" button.
3) Select the "From URL" tab.
4) Uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box
5) Paste the URL in the line for it.
6) Click OK.

Steps 4 and 5 can be switched.

Edit: Seems I got beat to the line...

They all look very nice, but why the duplication? Other than the wifli RD they all look set up very similar. Because you can is good enough, just asking.

"Because I can" is pretty spot on really...haha. They do actually have slightly different purposes though. Cervelo for hilly rides, Scott for flat rides, Wilier for poor weather or long rides.

Good enough explanation for me. I've got two lugged steel bikes with campy 10 and similar gearing so I don't have much room to talk. I tried to differentiate mine by using silver and white on one and carbon and black on the other.
