road bike set up
A pic of the racing bike this year:
Frame - Giant TCR (size M/L)
Wheels - Mavic CXR 60 Tubulars
Components - SRAM Red
Pedals - Shimano Ultegra
Saddle - ISM Adamo Podium
Tires - Mavic YKSION Griplink (front)/Powerlink (rear)
Stem - Giant Concept SLR
Has been working well for hilly road races, a gran fondo and a few time-trials and triathlons.

First Bike in 10 years, time to get back in it! Just got it on Monday, only been able to take it for a short 3 mile trip to get a feel for it, hopefully get another 7 in tomorrow to get started.

Budget Road bike build:
Nashbar Carbon Frame
FSA SLK Carbon Crank
Ultegra 6700 Shifters, Derailleurs, Brakes
Vuelta Corsa HD Wheelset
The frame and wheelset have zero flex to them and I'm a big guy @ 265 currently. Strava says I have about 50 miles so far on it. So far so good.
The hope is to eventually find a nicely priced "quality" frame someday and transfer all of these parts to it.

Can I ask what you ended up spending on it? I may end up having to go a similar route whenever I move up to a carbon frame bike.

Im 180, and very unhappy with my vuelta corsa hd set. I have to true them ince a a month at least. Plus the front creaks and pops like crazy.

Sorry to hear that. On a 36 spoke rim, I can't imagine them going out of true that often once they have been tensioned. Must have gotten a lemon. How long have you had them? Did you buy from Nashbar? I would think they would do a swap out with you.
Share the road.
I got it on EBay. But you can get them directly from the supplier. Try www.roadbikereview.com and look under Bike, Frame and Forks then under Chinese Carbon Thread 6.0.

This last one is my Wife's Madone 3.1

And she got that one because I man-handled her previous bike, a 10yr old Marin, in our garage and the derailleur bent with the frame because I got mad at it and chucked it up against some other stuff because it weighed like 200 lbs lol... bike was toast since it was an older model... so she got me good with the Madone... But no worries, it's great to be able to ride with her now on something that will be safe and fun...
I'm glad to be a part of the forum and look forward to getting to know everyone.

Picked up a Trek 2.1 with SRAM Apex groupset. It is a 2012 left at my local bike shop. I was able to pick it up for $999, swapped out tires for me, and upgraded seat to a carbon (same as on 2.3). I was happy I could find it locally with local service for such a good price. I am looking forward to getting it out on the road.
I actually passed up a Craigslist deal on a Trek 4.5 for $1200. Bike was like new condition, but no bike computer on it, that would have been another $100-$150. I was also concerned about not having a warranty on a carbon fiber bike and I really like the SRAM on my 2.1.
