Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here's my noble steed. 2005 Specialized Allez Comp. Ultegra 9sp brifters, brakes, and FD, Dura-Ace RD, Shimano 105 wheels. Originally came with the pictured Body Geometry saddle which I really loved, but it wore out. It now sports a black and red Selle Italia, and will have red tape to match once I start back up again after healing. (Just had L4-L5 lumbar fusion to correct a blown disk.)

Here's my new/old bike. 1987 Bianchi Campione d'Italia. Wheels, seatpost, crank, shifters, bars (I think) and derailleur original. Added Campy Centaur dual pivot brakes and aero style levers. Saddle is a Soma Kamisori. I think the previous owner may have replaced the stem as well.

Very nice; Bianchi always has a certain amount of inherent class and yours is no exception. That looks like a 58cm or so?

Finally posting my bike. I've been following this thread for a couple years now..

Picture is from an iphone, so quality isn't the greatest. Also, it's hanging on a wall hence the crank positioning.

Do you have the carbon Revenio? Post a pic...

I would like to get ahold of a carbon 1.0 frame and build it up. Great riding bikes!!

I recently got into road biking. I was fortunate enough to find a brand new 2010 (yes, brand spankin' new, but a few years old, wraps and seat still in plastic) Trek 1.5. Yes it is the 9 speed instead of 10, but all Tiagra which is awesome! I picked this up for $800 out the door. I am pretty pumped about that. I had also found a Trek dealer with a 2012 1.5, but that would have been about $1000 out the door. I will post up a photo in the next day or two.

I will likely sell my BMC before the season even begins. I haven't ridden it with any verve since last year, and besides, I've never felt the itch to race anyway. There's a local rider who's a beast on the road, and he's going for my asking price for it. He'll get a lot more use out of it than I ever will.

Hand-picked parts mix, spending where it counts; highlights being 7800 shifters and, not in this pic, a 6700 crank. He even grinned when I told him that the crank arms are 175mm -- that's his size. It would be hard to explain the bike to someone I don't know, but we've seen each other around for maybe 5-6 years now. He'll get a kick out of it.

Aw cmon man, hold on to it. As an owner of 2 BMCs I couldn't help but appreciate the old frame too such as that one and this:

They're very unique and I can see why a lot of people were intrigued back then.

Very nice bike.

Yeah, it's a great bike, but my SLX01 is just taking up space (the tires are flat now), and I guess I like looking at it more than I like riding it. It's fast and stiff, which would be good for someone else -- I don't need to get so beat up every time I go out for a ride. This guy hits 35+ on the flats; he'll take advantage of it for sure.

A GF01 may be in my future, so I'm not throwing out BMCs altogether.

^^^ The red accents (saddle, tape, cages) fits in perfectly. Well done.
