What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just got into cycling last summer with a Diamondback Podium 1. Have done some upgrades, but have been very impressed with the bike for less than $500 new. Will probably put in another year or two before getting something with at least Shimano 105 and then keep this as the winter/indoor trainer bike.

And I apologize for breaking the rules with the black saddle and white tape. I was on a saddle hunt but will keep it all black now that I found the ism adamo century.

good call on the wheels. if you peel the red bits of logo off those rims, i think the black/white theme will look much sharper.

Thanks for the input. I saw on a thread somewhere that a person suggested the same thing. I will probably go that route as I think it might be too plain with no decals.

I am using a Specialized Sequoia Elite that I picked up used at a shop. It's in their largest frame size- which suits me- and has had the rear rim replaced, presumably as an necessary upgrade, since this bike is basically for Clydsdales in this frame size <grin>. The PO also put a Ritchie adjustable stem on it, which has been nice as I can play around with the angle.

I like it! Very smooth & comfortable bike with the carbon forks, chainstays, and seat post.

I've put several hundred miles on it in the short time I've had it, with a 62-miler as the current longest ride. Mostly I do ~30 mile rides for fun and conditioning.

No beefs to report, other than that in granny gear on a very steep hill, if I stand up to pump it, and toss the bike from side to side, I can flex the rear triangle enough to touch a brake pad. I am a big guy at 6'-4" 220 lbs so I think it's just how it is. As my form has tightened up I haven't noticed it happening lately.

2013 Trek Madone 5.2. I love this bike! Carbon frame, Ultegra components, 105 cassette set, ultegra crank. I got the black/platinum color. They didn't have the white/green frame in my frame size.

My cycling related purchase for the day! It's old, so am I, so that works. I went for a ride, my rear tire failed 35 miles from home, (Tire, not tube) I stopped by the bike shop I knew in that town to get a new one, and traded for this new (to me) bike instead! A good day, 80+ miles and a new ride! I hate the yellow bar tape, but other than that I love it already.

Edit: Changed time to town.

Just wondering if you bought the diamondback locally or online order? I am also in central nj and wouldn't mind checking one out live at a local shop vs. trying to figure out proper fit online

I have to admit that I love the surly web site, if I made a line of bikes and had to explain them via a website, the closer it came to being what the surly website says their bikes are, the happier it would make me. Now I've only ever seen a Surly Pugsley in person, and it looked like a huge amount of fun, but it's a very specialized sort of thing. The cross check seems like it would be a joy to ride, but I've not seen or ridden one in person.

Good lord... that saddle!
Otherwise, a nice looking bike that looks way cooler than it should for the money!

Diamondback.... I used to ride one of their bikes from the early 90's. Loved it. I wonder how the new ones feel. Much better without the red, by the way
