Hello all. I just got my first road bike. It's a 2015 giant defy 3 for $780 bucks. I saw it online for $960 bucks. I really like the giant, I upgraded from a diamondback insight 1. Just curious if I got a good deal, & maybe some thoughts on what you think about giant bikes.

My first road bike...
2016 Trek 1.1 (54 cm)
I've owned this for a week, and so far I've only taken it on one 20-mile ride (excluding a 5-ish mile test ride), still stock with the exception of a Bontrager bottle cage. Picked up a new saddle bag and tool kit a couple days ago, planning to replace the saddle this weekend and looking forward to many happy miles this upcoming season! I'll likely update this stock pic in the coming weeks.

Trek1220 by joe fake, on FlickrI'm almost ashamed to post my humble bike among these corbon fiber wonders but...
Here it is. My only, favorite, newest road bike: a Trek 1220 that i got on CL with gummed up brifters that i later cleaned. It still has a bad attitude about shifting but otherwise works well. Behind it is my other bike, a Gary Fisher Kaita that served me well despite being too small beefore i got my road bike.

Yes, indeed. I can now mostly hang with the A ride, whereas I was in B territory previously.
Of course, I've been steadily improving for a while now, so I can't attribute 100% of it to the bike alone.
One thing that surprised me is that I haven't ridden the old bike AT ALL since getting the new one. I guess I'll find an excuse to ride the old bike one of these days, I guess, but when I go get my bike for a ride, it's always the new one (well, 2500 miles on it now, so not-so-new anymore, but.. still.)

Thanks!
Bars are the Soma HWY 1 road bar. They work well and are comfortable. not a lot of options for compact bars with the 26.0 threaded stem.
