experience with eggbeater cleats on road shoes?

I wanna put eggbeaters on my road bike but i am worried that walking around (road shoes)i would mash my cleats into oblivion pretty fast. does anyone have experience with the road shoe adaptor kit that crankbros has on their website? i have mtb shoes but on hot days i would like to commute with my road shoes

from the pic i assume the black part on the road cleat raises the shoe? am i right?

Of course, but it's only the thickness of the black part, maybe 5mm. You won't notice it...

get the quattro cleats, they work fine with standard eggbeaters and are a million times better than their standard road cleat, which i don't know why they bother to still produce.

I use the quattro cleats on my candy.

The real problem of using the standard cleat on road shoes is falling on your butt. The small brass cleat is slick on a lot of surfaces. You'll also tear up stuff and wear down the cleats with them exposed on road shoes. Either get the road or quattro cleats- both work well with standard EBs.

I had eggbeaters on mine. They work alright, but you can definitely buy different cleats for them. I remember something about black shimano cleats. I have since switched to Look so...

EDIT: I am glad I switched from eggbeaters. I never felt comfortable with them and hated how much float they have.

Get the quattro cleats for road shoes. They have a 'pontoon' that keeps the cleats recessed. They make quattro cleats with only 2 holes too so make sure you get ones that are compatible with your shoe. I've used eggbeaters and finally switched to the quattros. The quattros do give a more stable feel on the pedal while standing than the regular eggbeaters. They are a tad harder to clip into though, but just barely. If you go with quattros, and switch to using the mtb shoes like I do sometimes, you'll have to trim the inside lugs to be able to clip in.
