Low end upgrade

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Low end upgrade

Hi everyone!

This is my bike https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...postcount=5816 , and I know some time in the future I'll need to change the tyres and while thinking of new tyres, I though I could upgrade my wheels (new rims, hubs). I'm just a cycling amateur, but I would like to have better wheels. The bike features Vittoria Zaffiro tyres, Rodi Stylus Racing rims and Miche Team hubs. I was thinking of 105 for the hubs, but have no clue about rims. I searched the forums and found out much about shimano groups, but don't know any other rim or hub manufactures that I could check out for similiar low/lowmid group parts.

Campagnolo has Veloce I think, any others I should check out, like Rodi for Kronos rims?

If you have a Campy group, I don't think you can use Shimano hubs. UP front, but not for the rear.

It looks to me like he has a Shimano group from the pictures.

If the shifters were Shimano, there would be cables coming out of the sides.

Thanks for the replies!

So here's what's on the bike:

The rims are Rodi Stylus Racing, the drivetrain is Miche Team, both hubs are Miche Team also, the derailers (front and back) are Campagnolo Xenon (it says so on them), brakes are Miche Team (both brakes), shifters are Xenon also. I have no clue about the sprockets (the rear or front), but I guess they're Xenon too, think they made 3x9 back in 2006, so this could be it.

I would like to keep the Xenon derailers, I guess it's more or less in the same league as Sora, and changing the derailers would cost me too much $$...

Any companies that make hubs compatible with campy?

Campagnolo and Miche are your best bets. Miche Racing or Campagnolo Veloce would be good upgrades. Everything else is probably a bit exotic. FRM would be a hardcore Italophile choice
As for rims, Rodi rims tend to be pretty heavy. How are the roads in Croatia these days? A deeper rim would be good if you have to ride rough roads. Can you get Ambrosio rims?

Have fun in Croatia! I bet the biking is wonderful (only been riding in Slovenia)..
