Thinking of getting a PowerTap
 

I just sold my Trek 1000 and going to use the money to buy a PowerTap.

I can't stand not having matching wheels though, and don't want to spend huge money for Zipps to match. I love the look of my Easton Vista's and they ride very well as well. Can my Vista hub be swapped out for a Powertap? Is that a ******** idea?

seems like it would be a lot of work for an ok wheel set, I got a dt swiss r1.1 powertap and just ordered the matching front wheel from mike garcia for $200..

I don't remember what the spoke count is for the Vista, but as long as it's a drilling that you can find a PowerTap hub for, someone can build it up for you.

Yeah I'm looking at the Wheelhouse Powertap Pro which is built with DT Swiss r1.1

How does the DT Swiss compare to the Vistas? They appear to be about the same price.

I get it at cost which is nice.

The Vista is a little bit more "aero" than the RR1.1, but My PT SL/PT front set is laced to RR1.1's. I'm 200-205 and beat the crap out of my wheels.

I did have to have the wheel rebuilt with a new rim after a 30mph sideways skid and getting hit by another rider during a race, but not a lot of surprises there. I rebuilt it with an RR1.1 and it's been fine so far.

vista = 1800g
dt = 1510g (oddsandendos.com)

those are just the base wheels since i couldnt find vista rim weights..

so the dt/powertap rear with the dt front should weigh about as much as your vistas

I take it you have another bike to put it on! ?

"Normal" rear hus at 150 grams? Where are you getting your hubs from ;) I'd say most performance hubs are in the 200-300 gram range. CK, White Ind, DT, Tune (affordable), Speedcific, etc.

I'm ready to pull the trigger, but what would you do?

Powertap SL laced to DT Swiss 1.1R or PowerTap Pro laced to DT Swiss 1.1R, and matching Front DT Swiss 1.1R with Dura Ace Hub?

Both options are the same price, and are the DT Swiss better than my Easton's or about the same?

Don't get the Pro.... just get the SL for now and get a new front wheel when you can afford it (If you're really worried about matching).
