What Cycling Insoles do you use?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have sworn by New Balance "ABZORB+" insoles forever, but the new shoes are too snug for 'em... something customizable would be sweet... ideas?

I've been using Sole Heat Moldable Insoles for about a year now. Haven't had any knee pain since. They are warmed in a low temp oven, then placed in your cycling shoe for a minute or so while you stand and form them. They also can be re-formed a few times if required. They fit in my SIDI's without trimming. Cost me about $35.

I don't wear insoles.

When I wore out the stock ones in my Sidis, I never replaced them, and didn't notice any impact on comfort. My Nikes had dual compound insoles, were you could easily feel the ridge around the cleat bolts (wtf were they thinking), so I yanked them on day 1. Again, no comfort issues.

Been using SuperFeet gray's the last month and they make a huge difference. I had been using my Sidi's with the stock insole and decided to give the SuperFeet a shot and am glad I did. Now I need to lower my seat a touch to compensate.

I take the insoles from my old sneakers (not worn out, just older that i don't wear anymore). I put some of those in my road shoes and they're great. I've also used the Dr. Scholls insoles with memory foam with pretty good results in my MTB (commuting) shoes with good results too.

Thanks for the link...they look very interesting and I might get a couple sets (one for sysling and one for golf). Were the prices different when you purchased or did you have a discount coupon or something? The prices I see are $10-$15 more than you quote...always looking to save a few bucks.

I have used Sole Heat Moldables for quite some time. I use them in my casual/dress shoes to help with my arch pain/PF on my right foot. Quality product that I recommend.

I purchased them at Pricepoint.com, Sole Custom Footbeds Slim Sport. However, I see, looking at my receipt that shipping was $6.50, and they added another $1.50 for insurance. Lately, I notice that online vendors, especially those from Ebay are adding exorbitant amounts for shipping.

Looking at some jerseys this morning on Ebay I noticed that an Australian outfit was shipping to the US for about $8, which is less than some companies charge who ship within the US. Oh well, US shipping charges are a rant for another thread.

Shipping costs an exorbitant amount these days . . . . many ebay sellers are not ripping you off. I sell a few items on ebay every week or two and charge actual shipping costs. High prices I tell you.

the metatarsal pads are the four 1.5mm shims that come with them, that you can put under in the insole. if you're not using the shims, you're getting numbness from the insole, not the metatarsal pads. also, everyone has one foot bigger than the other, so that may be the reason one foot likes them and one foot doesn't. one last thing to consider is that they're pretty thick, like a good insole should be, but that may require you going up a half size to compensate for them if you really like them...

i use them in my Carnac TRS8's, and as much as i like them, they take away from some of the toe room. because of that, i can't wear them if i plan on riding more than 60 miles, because the big toe on my right foot will start to go numb if i do because a) it's my bigger foot and b) the insole takes away from some of the toe room that my bigger foot needs...

also, if you like a specific insole, take it with you when you try on your next pair of shoes. like i said above, some insoles take up at least a half size or so, and may make a shoe that you really like a bit snug...

I tried the esole and they did not work for me in my sidi dominators. The big toe gets more pressure because of the back / arch area.

I really think that esole oven baking routine is gimmicky.

$250 for the fitting and the insoles....although I also got a bike fitting done at the same time, so the total price was $400. Best $400 I spent on my bike.

the ones that come with Specialized shoes are the + (red) ones, which is for people with flat feet, and i don't believe they come with the shims that come with the insoles when you purchase the insole separately. you can purchase the shims seperately for $35 though...

The 1.5 degree varus wedge is actually built into the Specialized shoes--the BG footbeds do come with more shims if you want to jack it up more, but they can also be used in non-BG shoes to get the same wedge effect.

But Five one six is right--the Specialized shoes just come with the + footbed. I switched mine out to the ++ (blue) version which work very well for my feet.
