Softening bike tights chamois

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Softening bike tights chamois

Hello!

Are washing and using chamois cream the only 2 ways to soften the chamois?

Assuming you have the modern, avoid the creams, unless you have chafing. I think the marketers have done a great job convincing bicyclist that they need a grease down "there". All that does is clog up the modern chamois materials.

Use a gentle liquid detergent, no softeners, wash cold / cold rinse. Air dry indoors.

Old school chamois are made of a softened leather, I believe.
